Karuta is wonderful for children!!? Part 1
I'm sure everyone has played it at least once,
so I'm going to write about Karuta.😊😊
Is Karuta a hassle?
Some of you might have guessed, but
I'm the type who finds it a bit of a hassle
to really get into things like "Hiragana Karuta."😇😇
Reading it out loud is exhausting.
I can do it sometimes, though.♡
I know there are reading apps these days, but
children want to
do it withadults, don't they?☺️☺️
I think that because doing it together is fun,
the enjoyment stays in their memory,
and they learn hiragana
quickly along the way.
The benefits of Karuta
Development of language skills
Development of reflexes
Improvement of concentration and memory
Improvement of judgment
Fostering spatial awareness
Developing communication skills
Developing a competitive spirit
It's all good things.🙃
Why Karuta?
For my eldest son,
the development of language skills was a challenge.
He only started being able to hold a conversation in the second half of his middle year of preschool.
I didn't feel like he would ever be able to
read and write hiragana fluently!
When I heard friends say things like,
"They just learned it on their own without me doing anything,"
I even thought, "Wow, aren't they a genius?"
Even so, after he started his final year of preschool,
he became able to read and write
his own name.😊
One time, he saw a character on a sign and said,
"That's the 'ta' from Taro!"
It was like that,
a moment where he noticed hiragana.😳
It's proof that he's interested.
When that happens,
now is the chance!!
I want him to master "hiragana."👍
So, a parent's greed comes out...
We have posters up, but
it's hard to tell if he's remembering them.
Thinking about how to make him learn while playing,
I arrived at Karuta.
I thought, this is something I have to do!!
Failure with the Karuta strategy?!
My eldest son loves dinosaurs, so
I thought he could learn hiragana happily with this!
I thought I found a god-tier product.
Here is the Karuta I bought↓
Although I started it with excitement,
it didn't turn out the way I imagined.
In other words, my motherly strategy was a failure 🥹🥹
Even though the product itself is very good...
I wonder why? 🤔
There was a proper reason for the failure.
Reasons for the Karuta failure
They don't understand the fun or the rules of Karuta
They look at the dinosaurs more than the hiragana
They become knowledgeable about dinosaurs but don't learn hiragana
There were too many cards and too much information
My eldest son ended up thinking
Karuta = difficult.
It was truly a big failure.
Learning hiragana while having fun playing
My Karuta plan
ended right here 🫠🫠
Still, this mother couldn't give up
I want to have fun playing with the dinosaur Karuta
that I bought with my children.
In order to be able to engage with it happily,
I want to make them like the Karuta
that they thought was difficult!
I want to get rid of their preconceived notion that it's hard!
I thought about it night after night, prepared,
and there is a method I put into practice.
In the next article,
I will share those details with you 😊↓↓
Even though this was very long,
thank you for
reading it ☺️☺️
And thank you for your hard work with daily parenting ✨
Trial and error is fine!
Watching your children closely,
and finding their strengths and weaknesses
is more important than anything!
And enjoying it together!!
That is my early childhood education!
