[Self-Acceptance] It's Okay Not to Be Positive All the Time
Good morning, this is Asahi Hibino.🌅
Thank you for reading my article.
This time, I'd like to keep the article a bit short, like a column.
As I wrote in a previous article, I believe that to make life a happy one, it is important to always be happy.
However, being happy all the time does not mean being bright, cheerful, and positive at every moment.
Well, it would be great if we could, but it's not always that easy, is it?
Work that was going well fails,
failing an exam you studied hard for,
losing a match you gave everything for,
experiencing a serious heartbreak,
getting into an accident,
or having a tragedy happen to someone close to you.
No matter how positive a person is, there are (probably) always moments when they feel down, shocked, and unable to stay bright and cheerful.
Even I, who am saying this, have been told by people around me over the last few years:
You don't seem to have any worries,
you always look like you're having fun,
or you don't seem to have anything you dislike,
and it seems they think I'm a super positive person, but
I definitely have things I dislike, and I worry just like anyone else.
In fact, I'm in the gray zone for developmental disabilities, and I even think I'm someone who feels stress relatively easily.
I just think I'm a bit more accustomed to dealing with it psychologically.
It's normal to have things you dislike or hate, isn't it?
Since I was a child, I've often been told,
Eat your food without being picky!
but,
For me, there are things like green peppers that I got used to and no longer dislike, but there are also foods that I dislike no matter what, where the more I eat them, the more I hate them.
Telling someone not to dislike what they dislike is just crazy when you think about it, haha.
That is why I tell my children,
It's natural to have likes and dislikes, so it's okay to dislike things.
It's okay to dislike them, but please try your best to eat healthy food properly.
is what I try to say.
I've gone off on a bit of a tangent, but the point is that you don't really need to be positive about everything.
I think it's important to acknowledge your negative self and your downcast self without denying them.
It's what they call self-acceptance.
I used to worry about my looks and had a hard time accepting myself, butwhen you deny yourself, it really takes a toll on your heart, doesn't it?
Above all,as long as I was denying myself, nothing about my situation improved.
It took time, but when I was able to accept myself, my heart felt lighter, and
I was able to shift my thinking toward what I could do to compensate for those disadvantages in my looks,
and finally, I was able to move forward.
If we live our lives normally, I don't think every single day is going to be filled with laughter and joy.
There will be days when you are so sad you could cry, days when you fail and blame yourself, and perhaps days when you want to lash out in anger.
That is life, and that is who you are.
You don't need to force yourself to view negative emotions positively.
Please just accept them as they are, acknowledging that such things happen.
Through such self-acceptance, your ability to feel happiness also increases.
When you are able to accept yourself as you are, I believe you can see a happy life ahead.
Let's all live a happy life together.
Thank you for reading until the end.🌄
I would be happy if this article could help someone lead a happy life.
