[Sealion 6] The story of how I bought a 4 million yen Chinese car as if I were growing a camera lens
Suddenly, but does everyone have criteria they look for in a car?
Design?
Fuel efficiency?
Price?
Brand?
Speed?
Off-road performance?
Engine displacement?
For me, it's"excitement".
I want that kind of excitement,
not knowing when it will break or catch fire.
So, I bought one.
A China car.
Yes, a Chinese car in this day and age.
made in China. design by Shenzhen.
BYD SEALION 6 FWD model
By the way, I heard BYD stands for Build Your Dreams.
Lame (lol)

This time, I will talk about the circumstances that led to me 'growing' this car.
If you are a hardcore right-winger, please click back.
By the way, I'm more of a 'fashionable right-winger,' so please rest assured (?)
It started at the Fukuoka Mobility Show.
I had a reason to attend the Mobility Show, but the cars exhibited by domestic manufacturers in Hall A were just not exciting enough for me (and SUBARU wasn't even exhibiting). So I left Hall A early and went to Hall B. Hall B had foreign manufacturers exhibiting, but I have no interest in foreign cars, so I went without any expectations. Then, right in front of the entrance, there was a huge BYD booth.
What, it's a Chinese manufacturer.
I only knew BYD was a Chinese manufacturer; I didn't even know what models they had. 'Since I'm here, might as well take a look at these crappy cars...' I got into the display car with that lighthearted feeling.
That was the beginning of my downfall.
If you were a right-winger, you'd have an allergic reaction and a full-blown seizure, but since I'm a 'fashionable right-winger,' I was just curious enough to look and get in. I messed up.
I remember being blown away by the quality because the first car I got into was the Sealion 7, the flagship car for BYD Japan. The interior was too stylish, the exterior was good, and the panel gaps were perfect.

It's no wonder, as BYD's designers are people who used to work at Audi and Mercedes. And the molds are from a Japanese company, the former Ogihara Tatebayashi Factory (now TATEBAYASHI MOULDING Co., Ltd.).
Did you know that, ma'am?
I didn't know.
Well, I was surprised by the high quality that exceeded my expectations, but BYD cars are BEVs and don't have engines.
In the past, I was someone who seriously thought about selling my Impreza and switching to a Tesla Model 3, but in the end, I thought calmly, 'Is a battery EV a high hurdle without charging equipment at home...? I can't do long-distance driving without breaks,' and I gave up on the switch.

So naturally, I wasn't attracted to BYD, but right next to where I was about to leave, there it was 🦭🦭🦭🦭🦭🦭

"Huh? This price for a plug-in hybrid? 3.98 million yen"
I remember there was a stand like that.
Isn't this too cheap... I thought.
Domestic PHEVs of this class are all over 5 million yen.
I graduated from being a mountain-driving enthusiast, so for my next car life, I wanted a car that could carry more luggage than a Pajero Mini or Impreza, had good fuel economy, and had a cruising range that could withstand long-distance driving to enjoy comfortable camping, and then this appeared.
On my next day off, I went to the BYD dealer and stamped my seal.
(This is strange. I was supposed to buy a full-size diesel Pajero...)

If it had been sold a little earlier, I would have bought it
It wasn't announced at the time, but there was a test drive car for the 🦭, and I was specially allowed to ride in it.
I thought I couldn't buy it without a test drive, so when I found out there was a test drive car... (everyone's favorite temporary license plate)
My wife, who came with me, gave me a look that seemed to say, "Are you really going to buy it?"
But I was in a state of "No, I can't hold back anymore," soI decided on it during the first visit without thinking for a night.
Brilliant. It feels great.
Even so, I stamped the seal almost on impulse, so I kept thinking "I messed up" many times until it was delivered.
Is there any Japanese person who would buy this? A person from "that side." It will explode. It will burn. Stealth marketing. Cheap and nasty. Communist Party agent. Traitor~~~.
I thought about it many times. But my patriotism was defeated by the comfort of BYD's soft pads.

This is my Pajero (Build Your Dreams) (concept).
(I'm blurring the license plate sometimes, but don't worry about it)
But once it was delivered, these things were non-existent.
I've driven 1000km in the month since delivery, and it's still alive so far.
I'm taking notes on the good and bad points little by little,
so I'll write about them in the next Sealion 6 article.
The "optimal solution for a nerd" might be
owning three cars: a high-power turbo plus 4WD, a low-power slow manual light car, and a Chinese PHEV.
If you are curious about the Sealion 6 review or have any questions if you are thinking of buying one, please give me a heart or leave a comment.
If it's unpopular, the review will be in 3 years 🦭🦭🦭🦭🦭🦭
By the way, I reported the purchase to my father, who is a hardcore right-winger, but I haven't received a reply yet. I might have been cut off.😉🦭
I'll leave my Twitter 🦭 account here ↓
