The adventure doesn't end. Because I am here.

From a four-year assignment in Abu Dhabi to France.
After finishing six months of living in Bordeaux, I am currently living in a town called Istres in southeastern France.
This place, Istres, is close to the Camargue wetlands, home to wild horses and flamingos, where I had always dreamed of creating art one day.
As proof, flamingos fly into the marsh visible from my house.
Whenever I see them, I always think, 'Wow, they're really here, just like that.'

After graduating from the oil painting department of an art university in 2007, I worked various jobs to make ends meet while
continuing to create paintings.

At 32, I met my French husband by chance in Kyoto and we got married.
After that, I moved to France, and just when I thought I had settled in, my husband was transferred to the United Arab Emirates.
I finished my four-year assignment in Abu Dhabi and returned to France last summer.
And now, I have settled into a comfortable town in the Provence region of France, which is not a tourist destination but
is surrounded by nature.

In such a situation, I am currently well and truly isolated.
This town is not particularly famous. It has been four months since I moved here, and I haven't met a single Japanese person.
I have no acquaintances, and I don't have enough work ready to exhibit. I'm at a dead end.

From here on, I'm sure good encounters await, even if I don't rush. (Or so I'd like to believe.)
But still, for now, I am a little lonely.

For that reason, I've decided to use note, which I've been browsing here and there for a while,
to write about my daily life like a picture diary, along with the paintings I create each day.
(Today's painting was created back in 2017 when I was in Kyoto.)
In this place, which is a land of longing and where many traces of painters from the south of France remain,
I hope to write this like an adventure log.
