Look up and keep going, the cherry blossoms are blooming today too
🌸
I had been looking only at the ground. On my way home from work, I looked up and the cherry blossoms were there.
Life does not always go as planned.
As long as we are alive, we will stumble many times. Even if you are in despair and cannot take another step, the Earth keeps turning, and the sun rises and sets. Without regard for our circumstances, the cherry blossoms bloom in full every year.
Perhaps the cherry blossom petals fell gently as if to call out to Suko-san, who had been looking only at the ground.
The ground must have been covered in petals. Looking up was a natural movement, and the cherry blossoms are simply beautiful.
Let's try looking up.
I don't know the reason, but
we are loved by nature.
Because it encourages us, saying that is enough.
Look up and keep going, the cherry blossoms are blooming today too
Suko-san's haiku reminded me of how I received the strength to live from the transparent sea of Okinawa when I was feeling weak.
Whether I chose from the anonymous list or read through all the Lilac haiku articles before choosing, it was this haiku.
In her note, 'Three Spring Haiku - Lilac Cup', Suko-san quotes the lyrics to Gen Hoshino's 'Comedy'. She also wrote another note about this cherry blossom haiku and 'Comedy'.
Lyrics so spot-on that I had the illusion they were written for me.
Suko-san, thank you for sharing your precious thoughts.
I will be out on May 4th, so my replies and such will be delayed. I apologize.
🌸 What is the Kindness Chain Award?
This is a precious award that has been passed down since the first Everyone's Haiku Tournament Apollo Cup.
It is given to only one haiku out of all those submitted to the Everyone's Haiku Tournament. The recipient becomes a judge for the next haiku tournament and selects the next winning work.
The winner from two tournaments ago was Yayoi-san. Since I received the Yayoi Award last time, I have the honor of selecting the Ricot Award for this tournament.
|The beginning of this, and the circumstances behind it, are written by Kacchi-san on note.
The Everyone's Haiku Tournament, created by everyone.
The kind feelings I received from everyone when I won the Grand Prize, and the messages saying 'Do your best!' and 'I'm rooting for you!'were truly encouraging.
Having been given this opportunity, I wanted to pass on what I received in this Everyone's Haiku Tournament, created by everyone, to the next person. That was my wish.
Noriko Tonomura's thoughts
★They were truly encouraging
What I received at the autumn tournament was something great for me, beyond words.I received so much inspiration, energy, courage, and many other things.
If I can help someone else feel the same way, I would be very happy.

★I received so much inspiration, energy, courage, and many other things
I, too, was encouraged by Yayoi-san's empathy and kindness when I received the Yayoi Award at the Polar Bear Cup. I received energy and courage.
The chain of kindness—have I been able to pass it on? I hope this precious baton of the heart continues to be passed along.
