Picking up at Heathrow Airport ✈️ Why the Elizabeth Line is more expensive than the Piccadilly Line 💷

Today I went to Heathrow Airport Terminal 2 to pick up my niece N and her friend S 🛬

Since a round trip from my nearest station, Grays, is expensive, I was planning to buy a one-day travel card 🎫 that covers London zones 1-6.

An off-peak one-day travel card that can be used from 9:30 AM is 23 pounds 💷

The staff at the ticket office advised me that a one-way trip to Heathrow is 10.9 pounds during peak time and 9.3 pounds after 7 PM, so it would be cheaper to just pay with an Oyster card (a card like Japan's Suica), so I decided to give that a try...

When I checked the fare while exiting the ticket gate at Heathrow Airport, it was a whopping 18.7 pounds 💷💦💦💦

Thinking that wasn't what I was told, I asked the guy at the ticket office, and he said that while the Piccadilly Line is 10.9 pounds, the Elizabeth Line is a train, so it costs 18.7 pounds.

He told me that the travel card (one-day pass) can be used without any issues, so it's cheaper if you are traveling more than twice...

Come to think of it, I remembered the staff at Grays station saying, "You're taking the Piccadilly Line, right?" 💦

I never imagined the price would change depending on whether you go via the Piccadilly Line or the Elizabeth Line...

In the past, when I used the Elizabeth Line from Heathrow and paid normally with my Oyster card, it felt unusually expensive, but I thought I was just mistaken—turns out I wasn't 😅

The Piccadilly Line is treated as a subway, while the Elizabeth Line is treated as a train; no wonder it feels so high-class 🤣

It even shares the same platform as the Heathrow Express limited express train 😂

The Piccadilly Line takes 1.5 times longer, and the trains are old, cramped, and super crowded 💦

The Elizabeth Line is faster, and you can travel in comfort in new, spacious carriages 🚆

Even if it costs more, the Elizabeth Line is definitely better 🙆

It's also less affected by shedding, too 😅

When he has trouble sleeping at night, I give him a massage and try to support him as much as I can 🍀

I hope he can really quit smoking this time 😂
