The 'Pre-trip Consultation' service for Yakushima travel is truly wonderful👏

I also had our coordinator, Y, recommend a few tour companies and rental shops...

From those, I chose the following↓

'Sangaku Taro' is a guide company that also has several English-speaking guides👏
They won the Ecotourism Award the year before last🏅

If you book a tour, you get a discount on hiking gear rentals⛰
They also said they would introduce me to a car rental company where I can rent at a lower price🚗

So, I booked a day trip tour for September 8th✨

And for the following day, I decided to stay at an inn near the bus stop for the start of the 2-day, 1-night hut-stay Jomon Sugi trek...

Among the accommodations Y recommended, this one caught my eye↓

◆Cottage Kutsuroki <Anbo>◆

All rooms are detached houses, it's a relatively new inn, and it's clean🏠
Access to the town is good, and even without a rental car,
supermarkets, souvenir shops, and restaurants are within walking distance.

Apparently, it's the regular lodging for a university professor who is an acquaintance of Y (lol).
So, I booked this for September 8th✨

I don't need an inn for September 9th since I'll be staying in a hut.

The remaining days are September 10th and 11th...

Y's recommendation is in 'Miyanoura', which is also close to the return ferry terminal.

◆Lodge Yaedake Sanso◆

It seems this inn is also listed in the Michelin Green Guide👏

They survey various locations using their own methods, including rich nature and diverse cultural heritage,
list places they recommend to travelers,
and among those, they indicate places they especially recommend
with a star rating from one to three stars.

Listed locations are classified from no stars to three stars,
meaning 'worth a special journey,'
based on how much they are recommended to travelers.

The three rooms in the 'New Lodge' here
each have their own shower and toilet🚿

You can use the shared Goemon bath or rock bath, and
despite being in 'Miyanoura,' the main street,
it's said to be a Yakushima-style inn where you can feel the great outdoors✨

As for other inns with private baths,
'Seaside Hotel Yakushima' and 'Tashiro Bekkan',

major hotels, or the similarly affiliated
'Business Inn Yaedake'.

Since it's Yakushima, a 'lodge' is recommended
because it's closer to nature...

This place has a 'back river' instead of a 'backyard'🏞
You can swim in it, and you can also borrow the kayaks provided for free🛶

Joining a kayak tour costs 30,000 yen for two people.
If you stay at this inn, you can use the kayaks for free whenever you like🤣

I checked the site immediately and requested a reservation by email.

Two nights without meals✨

Even after 3 days, I didn't get a reply💦
I explained the situation via LINE to my sister Yumi, who lives in Urayasu,
and asked her to make the reservation for me.

Thanks to her happening to be off work and responding right away,
I successfully booked two nights.

I'll have to move from a Japanese-style room on the first day to a Western-style room on the second,
but if that's okay...

My sister said, 'It seems they don't handle things via email'💦

When I had my sister call the rental car company
introduced by 'Sangaku Taro'...

'We can't handle requests today due to the typhoon, so please call back tomorrow.'

That's what she was told.

Today, due to the influence of Typhoon No. 10, my family and relatives living in Fukuoka
seemed to be affected, with some having their work hours cut in half
or having the day off.

It seems the Meguro River in Tokyo has also exceeded the flood danger level (as of 2:57 AM on the 30th).

Typhoon No. 10 is currently crossing Kyushu at the speed of a bicycle 🌪

Even in the Kanto region, extremely heavy rain continues to fall,
and it seems active rain clouds are affecting areas far from the typhoon's center.

There is a risk of very strong winds blowing across western and eastern Japan through the 31st.
