Abeno, where you can eat gluten-free okonomiyaki made with rice flour and organic eggs 🇯🇵🇬🇧
Today was the lunch meeting for the Magic Insole salon members ✨
I am the one who decides the location for our monthly lunch meetings.
I try to choose restaurants that use high-quality, body-friendly ingredients as much as possible, but this is quite difficult 😓
Many of the members, like me, try to avoid wheat, so we often end up at Japanese restaurants, but...
Akiko-san, who helps me with handmade daifuku, told me that the okonomiyaki restaurant Abeno has a wide variety of gluten-free menu items, so I went there right away ✨
I had been to a different branch with David about 10 years ago, but it was expensive and I don't eat wheat, so I had stayed away.
Abeno is located near the British Museum.

It opens at 12:00 PM, but since I arrived 15 minutes early...

I decided to wait while reading the information about the restaurant on the window...

It opened in 1993 as the first okonomiyaki specialty restaurant in Europe ✨
This is the only place in Europe that offers the traditional Japanese style where staff cook the okonomiyaki right in front of you 👏
At 12:00 PM, the staff guided us to our reserved table and handed out the menus.
I was moved after reading what was written on the first page 😭

They use organic flour, and the eggs and meat are from an organic farm in Wales, UK 🥰
So, let's take a look at the menu and go through it right away✨

Otafuku sauce and Kewpie mayonnaise (which most Japanese people love) contain quite a lot of additives, so personally, I wish they had used a British Worcestershire sauce base instead😅
The okonomiyaki is about 17 pounds (approx. 3,200 yen), excluding the 12.5% service charge
Okonomiyaki, which is an easy and affordable meal in Japan, is a luxury dish in the UK😂
It can't be helped since they use organic ingredients, but...
This time, I ordered the gluten-free (using rice flour) 'Tokyo Okonomiyaki' which contains pork, squid, and shrimp💖

It's wonderful that the staff carefully grills each one right in front of you❤️
They also have omusoba, yakisoba, and soba rice...

I haven't had omusoba in a while, so I think I'll try it next time✨
I also want to try the organic beef fillet and vegetables❤️
It might be nice to come here for an anniversary (David loves okonomiyaki too🤭)
Also, this restaurant has a great selection of à la carte dishes✨
I'm also happy that they use organic honey and brown sugar instead of white sugar in their sauces and glazes as much as possible👏

The pan-fried shrimp and organic broccoli gyoza and organic natto are also appealing✨

This time, we shared a burdock salad between the two of us🥗

You can also enjoy Japanese-style desserts that make you feel like you're in Japan ❤️

The homemade matcha ice cream has even won a Great Taste Award 🏆

I wanted to try this matcha ice cream, so I ordered the Kyoto Sundae 🍵

Since I chose the gluten-free option...

It contained puffed rice instead of cornflakes 🥰
The drink selection was also nice, with organic juices and organic barley tea 💖

I also got the impression that there were quite a few high-quality alcoholic beverages on the menu 🍶
The staff member looked like he might be half-Japanese and half-British 🤭

He grilled it so skillfully...

Everyone was very satisfied 🤭
Someone ordered the apple cinnamon hotcakes...

They grilled those carefully right in front of us too 🥞
Flambéed with brandy 🔥

It looks quite delicious ✨

Served with cinnamon ice cream, it's very filling 🤭

Anmitsu packed with plenty of fruit 🍊🍓🍈🥝

A must-visit restaurant that makes you want to keep coming back, "Abeno" ✨
I plan to visit again soon!
I'm also grateful that they are open continuously from 12:00 PM to 9:30 PM, Monday through Saturday 🍀
I have one more reason to look forward to going out in London now 🥰
