Sometimes Words Are Unnecessary—With My Beloved Dog—
Sometimes, I write essays based on a single painting.
Usually, the words come to me naturally and effortlessly—
But this time, I simply couldn't write.
Nothing I wrote felt quite right.
No matter what I said, it felt like something was missing—
The painting depicted a man and his elderly French Bulldog out for a walk.
Even though the dog looked like it was struggling just to walk, its expression was overflowing with charm.
It must have been loved so much. I couldn't help but smile.
And there was the owner, watching over his beloved dog with gentle, squinting eyes.
Even though they weren't exchanging words, there was clearly a deep connection between them.
Sensing each other's feelings through gestures, gazes, and the atmosphere flowing between them—
That is a deep bond and relationship of trust born only from spending many long years together.
Surely, you have someone like that in your life as well, don't you?
Perhaps I lost my words when faced with such a world.
I believe that painting wasn't meant to be described in words, but rather to be "felt."
Sometimes, instead of expressing things in words,
just looking and feeling,
creates a unique story for each person.
"Sometimes words are unnecessary."
I felt that the painting taught me exactly that.
When are the times you feel that "words are unnecessary"?
