Baking bread is becoming a new hobby... I failed at shaping it, but I decided that was okay.
An impulse is probably the closest way to describe it.
"I want to bake bread today."
That thought came to me while I was preparing dinner.
After working full-time and coming home,
cooking dinner, eating, and cleaning up,
even though I should be more than tired enough from just that,
there are nights when I just want to knead bread dough.
■ The shaping didn't go well

I tried making sausage rolls this time, but
as you can see from the photo,
the shaping was all over the place and the result was quite unique (lol).
Maybe I wrapped them too loosely,
because some of the sausages were popping out,
and some parts baked to a strangely dark color.
But honestly,
I didn't feel that down when I saw the finished product.
I love the aroma the moment it comes out of the oven,
and that alone was enough to satisfy me.
■ The reason I make it by hand is because I'm concerned about additives
When you look at the ingredients on the back of store-bought bread and sausages,
there are so many additives listed.
(This time, I only had store-bought sausages with coloring agents, sigh)
Even though I know not everything is bad,
it bothers me because it's something I eat every day.
The desire to eat things where I know as much as possible
about what's inside
is the foundation of my homemade cooking.
Flour, water, salt, sugar, butter, yeast.
I'm reminded again that having simple ingredients
is the best part of making things by hand.
■ The taste and texture were actually delicious
The shaping was what it was, but
when I tried it, the taste and texture were good.
The outside was crispy,
the inside was chewy,
and combined with the juiciness of the sausage,
I thought, "This is actually pretty good."
My family, who ate it with me,
also said, "Hey, this is tasty,"
so that made up for everything.
Taste over appearance.
That's fine for homemade bread.
■ Next, I want to try making the sausages by hand too
While making the sausage rolls,
I suddenly thought, "Can I make these sausages by hand too?"
Since many store-bought sausages have a lot of additives,
I thought it would be ideal if I could make the filling myself too.
Preparing the casings is a bit of a hurdle, so I think I'll go without them! lol
Well, it seems like there are kits for homemade sausages sold these days,
so I'm thinking of looking into that.
If it goes well, I'll write about it here again.
■ I don't think living a mindful life means doing things perfectly
Kneading bread between chores,
failing at the shaping,
and yet having a night where it baked up deliciously.
I thought while tasting the fresh bread that
a mindful life isn't about being able to shape things perfectly,
but rather about those small accumulations like
"I made something by hand again today"
and "My family told me it was delicious."
Even if I'm busy, even if it's imperfect,
the act of continuing itself
is what creates my life.
I think I'll bake again next week if the impulse strikes.
