What does a dream mean to you?
What does a dream mean to you?
Some people can put it into words immediately,
while others may not want to look for an answer.
For me, a dream is an exciting goal that helps me move forward.
When things are going well, it pushes me forward, and
when things aren't going well, it simply exists there.
When I quit my job and chose the path of a freelancer,
I had a dream.
For my experience to be useful to someone.
To support those who have made the decision that they can start anytime, regardless of age.
When I first started to make that dream come true,
there were many things that didn't go as planned.
But because I have a dream, I can keep going.
However, there were also realities that only became visible because I kept going.
Days when I couldn't feel that I was moving forward.
Time that didn't turn into results,
even though I was supposed to be working hard.
"Am I really on the right path?"
Such questions would pop into my mind at unexpected moments.
Precisely because I have a dream,
I feel disappointed in myself when things don't go well.
Precisely because I know the ideal,
I feel pained by the gap between it and who I am now.
Even so, strangely enough,
I never wanted to quit.
Working as an entrepreneur or freelancer
is a path where the right answer is hard to see.
Learning doesn't necessarily lead to results,
and effort doesn't always pay off.
That is why there are moments when a dream alone isn't enough to keep going.
When I realized that, I tried changing how I perceive my dream.
Instead of placing the dream far away as a "goal",
I thought of it as a "standard to check if my current choices are off track."
On days when things don't go well,
instead of blaming myself for not moving toward my dream,
I accept that "this is a time to pause."
On days when I can move forward,
I acknowledge myself for moving forward, even if just by a single step.
By adjusting my distance from my dream in that way,
I continue to do this work.
Just because I have a dream,
it doesn't mean I can always stay positive.
But because I have a dream,
I can always come back when I get lost.
Without denying the part of me that can't move forward,
I can properly accept "the me who still wants to keep going."
I believe it is both an exciting goal and a place to rediscover belief in oneself.
At the same time,
it is a place to rediscover belief in oneself.
If you feel like you have a dream but cannot move forward right now,
that is not a failure.
It is simply because you cherish your dream that you are taking the time to confirm where you stand.
A dream is not just something to move toward,
but also something that supports you when you stand still.
That is what I believe.
This week, I will be writing articles on the theme of such dreams.
