The Story of Buying a Ring to Commemorate the Birth of My Child
My precious, adorable child is almost four months old.
They have started to hold their head up, and the things they can do are gradually increasing.
They smile at me and my husband, sometimes arch their back and let out squeals of joy, and use both feet with incredible strength to bounce themselves in their bouncer.
No matter how many times I see it, I find it absolutely adorable.
Their face has also become more defined, and I feel like they are starting to look more like a boy.
When I open the photo-sharing app "Mitene," it automatically displays "My son X months ago," but when I look at my newborn child, they seem like a completely different person, and now that I think about it, I feel like my memories of childbirth have faded quite a bit.
――I don't want to forget the memorable day my child was born! I want to be able to recall that happy feeling at any time!
Something to commemorate the birth... something that will serve as a trigger to remember that happy feeling every time I see it. With that in mind, I searched for a ring adorned with a sapphire, the birthstone of September, when my child was born.
When I decide to buy something, I'm not satisfied unless I've researched it thoroughly until I'm convinced. Even after giving birth, I spent November and December searching for sapphire rings from various brands. I used all my free time after putting my child to sleep for online searches, and whenever I went out, I would stop by jewelry brands (despite looking like a zombie from postpartum sleep deprivation) to try on a few... (Thank you to the kind shop staff).
Even after searching through famous brands, I couldn't easily find the ideal sapphire ring I had in mind, and naturally, I couldn't find it on e-commerce sites like Amazon or Rakuten either... I opened the minne app, pinning my last hopes on handmade items.

...This is it!!!
Even after thinking I had found my fated encounter, I continued to research and examine it, compared several works by the same artist, and spent about 10 days every day just comparing photos, descriptions, and reviews... (I'll say it again, I'm the type who isn't satisfied unless I've researched it thoroughly...).
I was so moved by the actual item that arrived after the New Year.
I gazed at it many times, showed it off to my husband, showed it off to my mother, and even showed it off to my child, who doesn't understand anything yet... A 30-year-old talking in unique baby talk, saying, "It's a memento of my son being born, meow~~ it's so pretty, meow~~"...
The beauty of the sapphire ring that makes me want to show it off that much... I am enchanted by its elegance. First, the ring itself. A delicate gold ring. And on that dainty ring, a beautifully cut sapphire sits enthroned. It is a rare sapphire with a bi-color of blue and clear, with a fresh, transparent part in the center of a deep, clear blue, where the blue shines through thinly. The way it transitions from blue to clear is beautiful, and it has such a mysterious charm that I find myself looking at it closely every time my gaze falls on the sapphire ring. I feel my heart race every time the bi-color sapphire ring, which I chose because I was also attracted to the phrase "one-of-a-kind," enters my field of vision.
By the way, sapphire is said to be a stone that boasts a hardness second only to diamond, so wearing my engagement ring embedded with small diamonds and this blue and clear sapphire ring means I now have the strongest stones enthroned on the ring fingers of both hands. If someone says something unpleasant to me, it also serves as a mental amulet that I can just punch them in the face with a fist that has the ring finger slightly forward. (Does it?)
Engagement ring aside, this sapphire one is a solid gemstone at 6x4mm, so in reality, I don't have many opportunities to wear it while raising a child. So, I made it my "essay writing ring." The time I spend writing essays while quietly wearing it and gazing at it during my note time after my child has fallen asleep is pure bliss. It boosts my mood and also increases my writing speed (according to my own comparison). I'm wearing it right now. Also, one of the stone meanings of sapphire is "sincerity." Since I was looking for a sapphire ring near the end of the year, and it was a time when I was thinking about my life from 2026 onwards, I had been thinking that "sincerity" is the value I want to place at the center of my future life, so I am very happy that it links to that as well.the value I want to place at the center of my future life is "sincerity"I had been thinking that "sincerity" is the value I want to place at the center of my future life, so I am very happy that it links to that as well.
Every time I gaze at the sapphire ring, it reminds me of the feeling I had when I first held my child, and it also serves as an opportunity for me to reflect on whether I am raising my child with "sincerity."
It is certainly true that this was by no means a cheap expense for me, as I am currently a full-time housewife, but
・As a way to remember those precious feelings
・As a source of pride for overcoming the great hurdle of childbirth
・Taking advantage of the fact that I cannot wear it every day, as a trigger to boost my writing productivity
I think it was, if I do say so myself, the best way to spend money◎
Childbirth is the best! Sapphire rings are the best!
