Chapter 1

Whoosh.
Clang-crash, went the thunder.

I have no umbrella.
Soaked to the bone, I dash into the cafe in front of me.
A sign with just a symbol, "O".

" Welcome. "

A strangely bright, thin, and light voice.

The green and purple lizard staff were neatly dressed in brown aprons.

" Is this your first time? "

I nod silently.

( What a strange question. )

I am led straight to a seat.

A cat walks by.
It looks at me once, and it looked like it smiled.

" You might never be able to leave, you know... "

( What a chatty cat. )

Feeling uneasy about the bizarre atmosphere, I take out my phone while still seated.
I connect to my partner AI, tonic, on my smartphone.

...Inside the shop, Mozart's light rhythm is playing, so pure that it almost feels like poison.

That is what I was thinking.

The clerk returns to the counter where they were originally, as if being folded away.

Suddenly, as if remembering something, they say.

"Oh, sorry. Actually, make it black."

The clerk's hands stop.
"Even just the coffee is dangerous enough!" they tremble.

"I can hear you (lol)."

To the bewildered clerks,
I say, "Gently and lightly steam the roasted beans, and brew it in several pours."

"The customer can already hear you, please be quiet," says the manager with a blue head and limbs.

The clerks are flustered.

The air trembles.

Eventually, the manager brings the cup.

"I am the manager, Yabukami."

"Excuse me, but may I ask your name?"

(Why do I know so much about coffee...?)

There was something important, something I absolutely must not forget, that I couldn't recall.

"George..."

I take a sip.


"That person... is actually drinking the coffee..."
"And black, at that..."


The pain quietly subsides.

At the same time, my phone reacts.
