Literary Tea Kettle [Weekly Short-Short Note]
"I found this at an antique market, and it seems to have a bit of a history."
"It looks quite old. Is it a container for something?"
"I suspect it's a tea kettle... but it suddenly starts crying."
"Crying?"
"Yes, with a sorrowful voice. I thought maybe, like the 'Bunbuku Chagama,' a tanuki or something had transformed into it... You don't know it? The folktale."
"I don't."
"And it doesn't just cry. Look, it opens. Try opening it."
"This is scary, and the edge is chipped... Whoa! Wait, is that... a flower?"
"Exactly. Every time you open it, a different flower is blooming inside."
"And it's strangely lighter than it looks... It's almost as if it's floating a little."
"It feels like it might be cursed or haunted by something, but I have no idea what..."
"Hey, I don't think this is a tea kettle."
"Huh?"
"It's falling apart, but it's angular, like a refrigerator... and this yellow thing here, is it... a mouth?"
Then, suddenly, that yellow mouth moved, and a strange cry echoed through the air.
"Uta-kata! Uta-kata!"
