The 'misconception' many people have at shrines on auspicious days like today
Today is
Taian,
Tenshanichi,
Ichiryumanbai-bi,
and Tora no Hi,
a very rare day where four auspicious days overlap.
On days like this,
more people visit shrines.
However,
there is one thing
that many people
misunderstand.
Auspicious days
are not 'days to make your wishes stronger.'
The truth is the opposite.
They are not days to increase something,
but days to set things in motion.
That is why at a shrine,
・Just taking a deep breath
・Sitting quietly
・Making no requests
is more than enough.
You don't have to
decide on big things.
Even if it is something small,
take one step.
That is
Ichiryumanbai-bi.
It is a day when things that have started moving
will expand later on.
And
the Goshuin (shrine seal) remains
as a record of that day.
Not as proof of a request,
but as a mark
that 'I moved on this day.'
This month's Goshuin
is also kept
as a record of that flow.
