Introducing Regional Healthcare on a Remote Island Where "Nothing is Missing": Hear from the Front Lines! "Whole Island Clinic" Online Tour
[For Nurses, Dental Hygienists, Pharmacists, and Medical Office Staff] We are hosting an online tour!
Ama Town is located in the Oki Islands, a remote island group in Shimane Prefecture.
With no convenience stores, no pharmacies, and only one traffic light, the town's slogan is "Nothing is missing!" At the Ama Clinic, which is the only medical institution on the island, we are recruiting nurses, pharmacists, dental hygienists, and medical office staff.

Because it is a small island with about 2,300 residents, we can provide healthcare that carefully addresses each patient's needs. We provide a diverse range of care, including primary care, prevention, emergency care, and end-of-life care for everyone from infants to the elderly.
In this event, front-line staff from the Ama Clinic, which supports Ama Town—the "Island of Challenges"—will introduce what it's like to work and live on the island.

I want to live on a remote island! I want to get involved in remote island healthcare and regional medicine! We look forward to your participation.

Features of the Ama Clinic: Deeply engaging with every patient
1. The only clinic in Ama Town
Ama Town is located in the Oki Islands, floating north of Shimane Prefecture, about three and a half hours by ferry from the mainland. Although it is a small island surrounded by nature with a population of about 2,300, it has bold town policies and a culture that warmly welcomes people from outside the island, with the characteristic that about 20% of the population are migrants.

2. Caring for the entire region
Everyone on the island, from babies to the elderly, is our patient.
Unlike hospitals in the city, we are not divided into specialized departments, but serve as a local primary care institution that treats patients across various ages and medical specialties, acting as the local family doctor. In addition to general practice, we support the island's healthcare by conducting facility visits for welfare organizations on the island and performing school health checkups as the only clinic on the island.
3. Collaboration with other professions
Staff from various fields, including medical, nursing, and administrative, share patient information across professional boundaries. Leveraging the "face-to-face" relationships possible only in a small population, we carefully catch changes in each patient's physical condition and their voices, relationships where we know each other's faces to provide healthcare that is close to each individual.
For those who cannot attend this event, we also accept individual consultations. Please feel free to contact us first!
