Alphabet Monsters Design Notes w / W
What are Alphabet Monsters?
Alphabet Monsters are original educational materials that feature uppercase and lowercase letters designed as Pokémon-like characters.
By utilizing the shapes of the letters as monster silhouettes, we have designed them so that children can enjoy getting familiar with the alphabet.
As a design note, I will be writing about the behind-the-scenes of their creation.

Two masterpieces born from a little genius
The 'w' and 'W' this time are based on rough sketches my son drew when he was in the second grade of elementary school. You might call me a doting parent, but when I saw these designs, I was shocked and thought, 'Is he a genius?' (laughs)

w (Wingle)
The two wings of the letter 'w' drawn by my son, and the vernier at the bottom edge. It is an energetic bird character that uses the shape of the letter as its wings and body.
I named it 'Wingle' after the word 'Wing'.

W (W-t)
The uppercase 'W' already had a very strong personality as a 'double-headed' creature in the original draft. The idea of turning the letter and using the two peaks at the bottom of the 'W' as heads is a flexible perspective unique to a child.
In the final version, that double-headed bird has been further enlarged and brushed up into a powerful figure. I named it 'W-t'. I gave it a profound sound to give it the style befitting a rival to V.

Rival machines created by parent and child
Compared to the 'V' duo, which specializes in speed, this 'W' pair possesses overflowing energy, wild power, and turning performance. I took my son's best idea—'a letter flying while blowing fire from its verniers'—and completed it as a color illustration. These have become characters I am deeply attached to, packed with the joy of a parent-child collaboration.
If you like, it would encourage me if you could 'like' or follow.
It would be amazing if you could leave a comment about your child's reaction, etc.✨
