My attempt at being an overachiever failed in one day. As a timid person, I started my 'ultra-low-altitude' job preparation in secret.
Hello, this is Arinomaru.
'I'm going to read business books and study marketing before I start my new job!'
……Yes, I failed miserably after just one day (lol).
I stopped comparing myself to my talented peers and feeling down. As a timid and ordinary person, I switched to a 'low-altitude preparation' with much lower hurdles.
First, I secretly play a free typing game (Sushi-da) every night. Since being slow at typing makes you look the most incompetent at work, I'm quietly increasing my speed.
Next, I'm registering honorifics like 'shouchi itashimashita' (I understand) into my smartphone's dictionary.
And, I'm force-locking my phone at midnight to prevent staying up too late.
Other than that, I'm practicing by myself so that I can at least say my greetings in a loud voice (lol).
But I think the most important thing is 'finding a place to escape (a third place) outside of my company peers.' It's about building a breakwater for when my heart feels like breaking.
If you have any 'plain but potentially useful preparations' you're doing, please seriously let me know!
