A Story Stranger Than Fiction!
They often say that "truth is stranger than fiction," but
I never imagined something like that would happen to me...
This happened in August of this year.
My mother, who lives with me, tested positive for
that disease currently raging across the world.
“Oh no, has it finally come?”
was my honest reaction.
At 80 years old, and
having been hospitalized for various illnesses from March to November last year,
I was extremely worried.
We received instructions from the public health center for home care.
My mother's fever rose to 38 degrees, she started coughing,
and she said her head hurt too.
This is bad!
My siblings and I discussed it and contacted the public health center
to see if she could be hospitalized.
When I called the public health center,
they urged me to call the general consultation center.
When I contacted the general consultation center, they told me to
contact the public health center,
or suggested I ask the hospital where she was tested.
When I asked the hospital, they told me to call the public health center.
“I'm being given the runaround.”
I understand that the medical field is under pressure, but I
felt they were “cold.”
In reality, the hospital bed occupancy rate is high, so there is probably nothing they can do.
No matter how many times I called, I got the same repeated answers.Still, I couldn't give up, so I called a certain hospitaland desperately explained everything from the beginning. Then, they listened to me very kindly. It was the first positive reaction.
“Huh? That's definitely the runaround! That's terrible.”
They listened to my story with empathy.Maybe this hospital would understand and acceptmy mother for hospitalization?
“Please, I beg you. Let my mother be hospitalized at this hospital.”
I said, sounding desperate.
“Well, I understand your desire to have her admitted, but we are an udon noodle shop.”
I was told.
“What?! An... an... an udon shop??”

I had mistaken an udon shop for a hospital and called them.Does that kind of thing happen? It does.Like Jay Kabira's
Mumu!?
I think we talked for 15 minutes. After hanging up, my family and I looked back on this storyand burst into laughter. The udon shop staff must have alsoburst into laughter with their employees.Even now, thinking about it, my heart warms at the attitude of someone who carefully accepted every one of my desperate words.Surely, the udon made by that udon shopmust be delicious, seasoned with“Vitamin Love”in the broth.(My mother's hospital was found safely.)
[Conclusion]
◆ Udon made by a warm-hearted chef
who listens seriously to a wrong number
must be delicious!
