Niche Writing

It was quite a while ago, but
on a Sunday morning information program

called "Gacchiri Monday!"

Yukai Engineeringintroduced a company's

"Amagami Ham Ham"

stuffed animal. It's a product like this.

they thought it would be better to specialize in one thing
for a small or medium-sized enterprise to compete against major manufacturers.
They are competing in a niche area.

The concept is
"A new form of healing from Yukai Engineering, born from memories of raising children.
It is a nibbling robot that reproduces the happy gestures you can only experience during the short period of being a baby or a young pet.


It feels good, but you have to make them stop.You can enjoy that enchanting 'nibbling' at any time."

Furthermore, the product description says

"Nibbling is a way to convey various emotions without using words. And it also provides an indescribable sense of comfort.
Aren't there actually many people who want to experience the nibbling from babies and pets over and over again?
Amagami Ham Ham will likely become a presence that satisfies those feelings through various types of nibbling."

is what it says.

When you put your finger in the mouth of this puppy stuffed animal, it gives you a little nibble♪

But, I think I understand, don't you!?

The manufacturer
is really targeting an amazing area, aren't they?
They targeted a place that is too niche for major manufacturers to tackle.
It seems there are various dog breeds and also cat patterns.

Amazing, right!?

A baby's nibbling is temporary.
Although you really have to make them stop, there is also a psychology of wanting to let them nibble.

They focused on that and turned it into a product.

Even the developers

Instead of just discussing ideas they've thought up in their heads,
they actually show each other prototypes they've made,
touch them, and then discuss them!

That makes things move pretty fast, doesn't it?
The developers are all people with the skills to build things.
Everyone tackles the niche areas.
What an interesting company.

Among noters too,
there are orthodox people,
there are specialists,
and there are so many amazing people.
