Let's take the best of everything!
Do you remember about 15 years ago
when animal fortune-telling was all the rage?
Lions, tanuki, cheetahs,
elephants, koalas, and so on—it would tell you
your individual personality and tendencies based on the nature of that animal,
and in addition to cute illustrations,
even a creature from fantasy
called a unicorn appeared.
I heard this at a seminar I attended,
but apparently this animal fortune-telling
is based on something called 'Teiogaku' (Imperial Studies),
a discipline for not perishing.
It seems it was closer to statistics than fortune-telling,
and I have regretted that I should have listened more seriously
when I had my fortune told.
By the way, I was a fawn.
Aren't I just adorable?
♫ Living in contradiction by EPO
A friend of mine at the time used a simplified version of this animal fortune-telling
to arrange personnel at a supermarket,
and apparently sales increased
in every section (especially the deli corner).
They changed the name to 'Personality Psychology'
and are still running a consulting business today.
Our own talents and natural qualities
are buried deep in our subconscious like raw gemstones,
and perhaps many of them only shine
after being unearthed by someone (a coach or a tool).
On the recommendation of that consultant,
I once tried something called
StrengthsFinder👇
There are many
self-diagnostic tools in the world.
If you have the curiosity to want to take a peek,
all of these tools have free diagnostics,
so anyone can easily experience self-diagnosis.
(I will introduce four representative ones in the second half.)
Most are in a question format,
either a two-choice 'yes/no' format
or choosing one of five levels.
What everyone wonders here
is its credibility.
Like, 'Hey, is this result actually true?'
This is just my personal opinion,
but I think you have to decide for yourself
which one is superior.
I think it would be good to try a few,
compare the differences, have a dialogue with yourself,
and find the one that feels right.
When you do, by all means, take the best of each.
For those who feel a bit uneasy,
to start with, there is something called the
Y-G Personality Test, which is used in medical institutions.
It's sold cheaply used as a book,
so how about starting from there?
Meanwhile, by chance, my note friend Tani-san
introduced this kind of self-diagnostic tool.
I love searching for myself,
so of course, I tried it.
My body is about to burst with curiosity.
Is this self-diagnostic tool 'Ocean'?
It tells you your hidden qualities and talents
using characters related to the 'sea'.
Woohoo! I'm looking forward to this.
I tried the diagnosis right away.
Here are my results.
Superrrrrrrrrrrrr
First Mate!!!!
It's not just any First Mate.
It has 'Super' in front of it.

'big sale,' or 'massive discount'!
My natural dexterity, yeah, yeah.
Perseverance! Yeah, yeah, I'm a total Showa-era gutsy guy.
I'm so happy!

That's right, the world is overflowing with things
I want to try!

I'm made of 98% seriousness lol.
Perfectionist!!! (Scary)
I wonder about that, it makes me feel a bit uneasy.
Ambitious and reckless with risks?
Is that a fool?
It must mean I'm a fool.
That fits so well!

I've been told this millions of times.
I think I must be endlessly kind.
Though after being kind, I get incredibly exhausted (lol).
I can be moved by trivial things.
Yes, I can, that's for sure.
I get moved so easily.
And it's so compulsive that it affects my daily life too much.
Is this self-diagnosis just flattering me? (lol)
But, however
There are people kinder than me all over the place.
And as for being a perfectionist, where does perfectionism even begin?
If I start thinking things like that,
the time I spent doing this would be wasted.
In my life,
I've decided to accept
that I am a kind perfectionist.
It's Yama-chan, the Super First Mate.

I looked for some free self-diagnosis tools.
Many people put 16Personalities on their profiles, don't they?
Back in the day, because I wanted to change myself,
when I was studying therapy,
I used to take the Egogram test once a year
to compare how much I had changed.
It's based on the concept that there are 5 personas inside your heart,
and since you can evaluate them with bar graphs,
I liked it because it's easy to compare with the previous time.
If you take action, you can change yourself.
I wish I had taken action when I was younger.
I was such a chicken,
so I needed stubbornness, obstinacy, and titles.
☟ I think this is a simplified version of that.
For those who want to do it in detail,
it might be better
to buy an Egogram book.
They are sold for incredibly cheap used.
See ya
