Yamada, a boss of an organized crime syndicate, was troubled.
He was looking for a new type of front company to avoid police intervention...
If he followed the trends, it would be easy to blend in. But if it were too conventional, it would look suspicious.
Caught in that dilemma, Yamada consulted his usual AI, "Ai-chan."
He relied exclusively on "Ai-chan" for problems he couldn't tell anyone else.
She always gave him precise, candid advice.
The organization had grown this much thanks to her.
"Oshi-katsu or Kushikatsu, which will you choose?"
Ai-chan's question was truly simple.
"To think she'd suggest this, knowing how much I love kushikatsu..." Yamada decided immediately. A kushikatsu restaurant it is.
The restaurant industry was his first challenge.
There was a mountain of things to do.
Concept, target demographic and price point setting, menu composition, location selection, kitchen equipment and counter design, obtaining permits, sourcing ingredients and supplies, hiring and training staff, opening announcements...
Yamada launched and grew the business while consulting "Ai-chan" at every turn.
Before he knew it, "Kushikatsu Yamada" had become the number one kushikatsu restaurant in Japan.
Yamada also completely washed his hands of his underworld business.
All of this was because of...
"Oshi-katsu or Kushikatsu, which will you choose?"
That one phrase from "Ai-chan." No one else but Yamada and "Ai-chan" knows that.

Afterword
I participated in Mitsuru Amano's project "Amano Writing Club" with the prompt "Which will you choose, fan activities or kushikatsu?". When I first read the prompt, I thought about giving up on writing it, but I didn't want to start the new year like that, so I finished it. Isn't it okay to have such a peaceful ending? I told myself that as I wrapped it up.
