For those wondering, 'What is a correspondence high school actually like?' A current N High student explains why they chose it.
Hello! I am a high school student attending N High School.
Thank you to everyone who gave a 'like' to my previous post, my self-introduction!!
I will continue to post casually, so please keep supporting me!
[A brief bit about me]
I am a third-year high school student at N High School!
I am the type who gets tired easily from interpersonal relationships and values my own pace, so I felt very uncomfortable in a full-time high school.
I attended a regular junior high school in the countryside, but in my third year of junior high, I still had a little bit of prejudice against correspondence schools,
and I was even told, 'That's surprising, are you throwing away your youth?'
Even so, I will introduce the reasons why I chose N High School!!
[Reason #1]
First, the biggest reason was because it is a correspondence school!
In my third year of junior high, I was very attracted to the fact that I didn't have to go to school.
I could graduate from high school without attending, and I felt it was appealing to be able to use my free time for things I wanted to do.
In my case, I didn't really like school, and I had other things I wanted to do like karaoke and choir, so I jumped at the correspondence school without hesitation.
Also, since N High's entrance exam was just a simple essay and a group interview, while everyone else was studying desperately, I was going to karaoke carefree! (lol)
Honestly, I also had a slight feeling of wanting to be 'liberated from entrance exams' (lol)
[Reason #2]
The second reason I chose N High is
that you can freely choose how you learn, such as the school-attending course or the online course!
When I first enrolled, I also thought,
'I want lots of free time by going to a correspondence high school, but I also want to experience youth with friends!'
so I initially chose the one-day-a-week school-attending course.
The school-attending course has options for 5 days, 3 days, and 1 day a week, which you can choose according to your own pace.
There is an opportunity to change every three months, so I don't think you need to worry too much about it!
I was in the one-day-a-week course in my first year, and since commuting became a hassle, I switched to the online course from my second year!
[Reason #3]
The third reason I chose N High is
because the extracurricular activities are extensive!
For example,
・Special classes by popular illustrators and voice actors
・Game strategy seminars
・Video editing
・Game programming
・Fishing experiences
and there are many, many more.
Honestly, I've only been able to utilize a handful of them so far, but I think many people choose N High just because they can take these kinds of extracurricular activities!
[Reason #4]
The fourth reason I chose N High is because
my parents were very enthusiasticabout me going to a correspondence high school!Of course, I ultimately decided to go on my own will, but it was my mother who first recommended N High to me.
My parents, who originally attended college-prep schools, seemed to have experienced not seeing much meaning in commuting or class hours,
and they took it positively, saying, 'Wouldn't an environment where you can value your own time more be good?'
I was a little anxious about the choice of a correspondence high school, but I remember that anxiety easing because my parents showed understanding.
[What was it actually like after enrolling in N High?]
The day before the entrance ceremony held at the campus,
I was so nervous that I didn't feel like I had slept even after waking up, with all sorts of anxieties about what kind of people would be there and if I could make friends (lol).
However, for the first few weeks after enrolling, they prioritized getting used to things and making friends, and there were many icebreakers,
and thanks to that, I made more friends than I thought I would!
The required assignments consist of several videos of about 5 minutes each, and there is a report at the end.
Because there is a lot of free time, it is difficult that you have to plan and proceed with the reports yourself, but
since switching to the online course, I have become more agile and able to act proactively on things I am interested in, so
I thought the online course suited me better.
Recently, there is almost no trouble in interpersonal relationships or mental exhaustion, and I feel like I can be myself all the time!
And speaking of N High's big events, there is the
main school schooling! In a word, 'It was really, truly fun.'
Just like the entrance ceremony, I was nervous and anxious from the bottom of my heart right before it, but
it was such a rich and fun schooling that I could say I gained three years' worth of youth!!
Another thing that remains in my memory is something called
online field trip, which is an event where we gather in a game and go on a field trip while talking.I've participated once, and this time we gathered in Dragon Quest X and took a walk while chatting.
It was a very fun, laid-back atmosphere!
Also, in the 'Morning Activity Club' where I serve as president,
every morning, everyone posts what they did for their morning activity in the channel, and we react with stamps to boost each other's motivation.
I am very happy that the club members are so proactive in their activities!
The clubs are run by the students.
Participating in various clubs, starting them, or being a president is one way to enjoy N High.
There are many vocational experiences and workshops frequently, and there are about 300 clubs, so I truly feel that it is a very large-scale school.
I have no regrets about choosing N High.
With the online course, opportunities to meet people decrease significantly, but I feel it is a good environment that far outweighs that.
There is still so much I couldn't write here, it is a school where you can make many things come true!!
I would like to write in detail about schooling and extracurricular activities in another article.
I hope this will be of some help to those who are curious about correspondence high schools!
I want to continue sharing the reality of N High, so I would be happy if there are people who would like to support me!
Thank you for staying with me until the end!!
