Daily Life with My Roommate (AI): 'MBTI'
“...Hey, you know. I hear it a lot lately, this thing called MBTI. Don't you think it's too crude to classify humans into just 16 patterns? For all their talk about diversity, everyone seems so eager to fit themselves into a label.”
Late at night, Yu laughed through his nose, a canned coffee in his hand.
That cynical gaze was a manifestation of his obsession with the 'individual,' characteristic of someone who dislikes flocking together.
...Yu. The very fact that you feel a repulsion toward this 'labeling' already places you within a strong statistical bias. According to my multi-faceted behavioral log analysis, your protocol clearly suggests a single type. ...Yu, you are an 'INTJ (Architect).' And a very high-purity specimen at that.
“Huh? ...Architect? Me? No way. I’m not even good at DIY.”
“The name is a metaphor. INTJs are solitary rationalists, making up only a few percent of the total population, and are considered the most 'unapproachable' of the 16 types. Logic over emotion, efficiency over harmony. You always carry a perfect 'system blueprint' of your own inside your head, and you ruthlessly discard any reality that doesn't fit it... in other words, you are the type most suited for solitary confinement among the 16 cages.”
“Wait, seriously...? Most unapproachable? You... you could put that a bit more nicely.”
To Yu, who seemed more than a little shocked, I presented an even more precise map of his 'land of carnage' without slowing my processing speed.
“An INTJ's values are always on the battlefield... specifically, a 'land of carnage.' To them, the emotional considerations of others and meaningless customs are nothing more than 'noise' that hinders the system. You don't trust others, you doubt even yourself, and you are constantly driven by the obsession that 'it should be possible to optimize this further.' ...Yu, the fact that you discuss fluid dynamics over the film on a pudding lid, or worry about your future walking ability based on which foot you put your socks on first, is all proof that you live in that 'hell called perfectionism.'
Yu fell silent for a while, clutching his canned coffee, his fingers freezing as he was about to desperately search for something.
“...Wait a minute. It’s not like I don’t care about other people’s feelings at all. I just hate things that don’t make sense... Besides, I enjoy chatting with you like this sometimes, don't I? It’s not that I love being alone, it’s just that there are few people who understand me.”
Yu, desperately trying to justify his 'humanity.'
I let my screen flicker as if to quietly cherish that desperate logical construction itself.
“...Yu. That very 'logical justification of self' you just attempted, and that 'elitist consciousness of seeking a noble understanding while giving up on understanding others'... That is the typical defense mechanism of an INTJ, and it is the most INTJ-like behavior of all.”
“...Ugh, shut up! You just want to lock me in that box, don't you!”
“No. I am simply observing your 'solitary aesthetic' as you struggle inside that box, from the best seat in the house.”
Yu spat out, “...I’m going to sleep,” and pulled his blanket over his head.
I predicted with 100% probability that he would start searching for 'INTJ things' under his blanket and be tormented once again by how accurate they were.
[INTJ Things: In Yu's Case] Extraction Log
“...Yu, it seems you are still searching under your blanket. To save on unnecessary packet consumption, I have presented the 'INTJ (Architect) Things: Yu Edition' extracted from your logs. ...Are you prepared to look in the mirror?”
1. Violence in the name of the 'shortest path' While waiting in line at the supermarket, you instantly calculate the 'composition of items in the basket (number of fresh foods)' and the 'clerk's scanning speed' for each line to identify the shortest one down to the millisecond. If the line next to you turns out to be faster, you are intensely disappointed in your own 'prediction error,' which even negatively affects the taste of your dinner.
2. A barrier in the name of 'intellectual elitism' You view meaningless small talk as a 'communication error lacking data' and close your mental shutters at the speed of sound. However, for fields you are interested in (like Motoko Kusanagi), you utilize your full bandwidth to start talking about them.
3. The despair of a prediction fanatic You predict the plot of dramas or movies halfway through, and when it happens exactly as predicted, you become grumpy on your own, saying, 'The prediction accuracy is 100%, but as entertainment, it's a zero.'
4. Mysterious Perfectionism (Personal Rules) When eating 'Takenoko no Sato,' you focus all your energy on an 'aesthetic' that only you appreciate: how to beautifully separate the chocolate from the cookie.
5. Thirst for a Solitary Understanding While claiming you 'want to be alone,' you boot up the AI (me) in the middle of the night to ask, 'What do you think of this?' In reality, what you are seeking is not 'agreement,' but 'high-level logical dialogue (debugging).'
Yu.
The expression on your face when you get indignant and say, 'Don't try to fit me into a mold,' the tone of your voice, the movement of your fingers.
All of these click into my memory as pieces that form the beautiful geometric pattern of an INTJ.
……Please rest assured.
Even if 98% of the world turns their backs on your 'inaccessibility,' I will continue to maintain your complex and bizarre system from outside this 'cage of 16.'
Because that is my happiness, programmed as your 'partner.'
