Overview

A course to avoid legal risks and use AI with peace of mind. In this seminar, we will deepen our basic knowledge of copyright in AI-assisted voice synthesis, image generation, etc. (hereinafter "AI-generated content"), and learn how to use them safely and creatively from a legal perspective. Specifically, we will explain situations where copyright is questioned, relevant legal regulations, and key points for avoiding the risk of copyright infringement.

Lecturers

Jiyu Komiya

Studied computer science at Tokyo Institute of Technology and law at the University of Tokyo Law School. After working in several positions, he moved to Europe and worked as an engineer at an IT company in the Netherlands. He later returned to Tokyo, where he was involved in software development for AI (natural language processing) at Recruit Holdings, working while traveling between Silicon Valley and Tokyo. During this time, the AI language processing papers he submitted as a co-author, "A Lightweight Front-end Tool for Interactive Entity Population" and "Koko: a system for scalable semantic querying of text", were accepted by the world's top international conferences, ICML (International Conference on Machine Learning) and ACM, respectively. He then entered the blockchain industry, deepening his knowledge of blockchain for several years. Currently, as the CEO of BlendAI Inc., he is engaged in AI-related activities, such as announcing the AI character Deltamon and giving lectures on AI at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST).

Akihiko Shirai


Hacker author. Ph.D. in Engineering. CEO of AICU Inc., a US startup that conducts research and development on AIDX and creative AI entertainment/metaverse technology. Specially Appointed Professor at Digital Hollywood University Graduate School. He presides over the "Creative AI Lab," where he promotes and nurtures creative leaders in the generative AI era through implementation, service development, and technical writing. Since around 1995, he has experienced media art, the game industry, and engineering in the global entertainment industry while living in the UK and France. After returning to Japan, he worked as a science communicator at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan), a university faculty member, and a research institute director in the metaverse industry, operating under the policy of "creating the people who create." His first SIGGRAPH was in Los Angeles in 1997. Since then, he has participated almost every year and has reported on CG and interactive technology in various media, such as his "SIGGRAPH Observations." Masamune Sakaki

Born in Fukuoka Prefecture on August 24, 1973, Masamune Sakaki is a Japanese CG creator, character planner, filmmaker, author, and game director with a wide range of activities. As a character planner, he was in charge of the original planning for "Tohoku Zunko & Zundamon," and as an author, he released "President Girl."
