Simple Totem Pole Lunch | Weekly Short Short Note

At the company where the man worked, "improving productivity" was the supreme command. Meetings were shortened, and eventually, lunch time was compressed to three minutes.

The president said.
"Eating is the most inefficient thing. We must solve this."

Thus, the latest "Totem Pole Lunch Machine" was introduced to the office.

It is easy to use; you just line up at the cylindrical pole, state your "menu," and a jelly-like food with perfect taste and nutrition appears right at your mouth.

The employees order with skepticism.
"Curry!"
Then, a yellow jelly wobbles right at their mouth.
"Hamburg steak!"
A brown jelly appears next. Both have the aroma and richness just like the real thing.

After lunch, everyone became less talkative. They were full, but something was missing.
A colleague mutters.
"Taste and nutrition are all covered by jelly. We no longer need to say 'itadakimasu' or 'go ahead'."

The line grew quietly and regularly.
What remained in the office were the taste of jelly, the silver poles, and strangely silent people.
