Reconciliation Theater | Weekly Short-Short Note

The Galactic Federation has proposed a 'Ceremony of Friendship with Earth.' If successful, it is said that we will be recognized as a peaceful civilization in the galaxy.
Gathered at the venue are representatives from three nations that have been at war for many years.
In the massive hall, alien spectators are lined up, and camera drones dance in the air.

The alien moderator says,
'First, please apologize for your past conflicts and forgive one another.'

The representatives hesitated, but eager for the right to join the galaxy, they reluctantly offered apologies.
'Wonderful! This is true reconciliation!'

The alien smiled with satisfaction. Applause rang out.
When the ceremony ended, the representatives secretly exchanged documents.
'The acting went well.' 'Next is the resource negotiation.'
Their eyes gleamed with the prospect of interests in the galactic market.

The next day, the alien visited again.
'Earth's Reconciliation Theater has been recorded. It is the best entertainment for us. A series has been greenlit!'
On the screen behind, the words '#1 in Viewership Ratings' danced.

Thus, Earth was not broadcast as a peaceful civilization, but as a galactic comedy show.
