[The Showa Era] Snow, a Subaru, and My Father's Arm
I imagine it snowed in many areas today, didn't it?
Please make sure to stay warm.
✨Thank you for stopping by again today✨
Since it's snowing, here is this photo.

It's a black-and-white photo that really feels like history😆
The person in it is me,
1 year and 10 months old,just a little before turning 2.
Don't I look a bit big for my age?
Or is it just me...?
I heard it snowed heavily the day before, but of course, I have no memory of it.
Whose boots are those?
Behind me in the photo is aSubaru
—probably a 360.
The corrugated metal garage is also so Showa-era, isn't it?
It was a car that oftenbroke down, but the feeling of "going out in the car" is the only thing I remember clearly.
(Do you know what 'enko' means!? It means the engine stops.)
Come to think of it, there were no seatbelts back then, right?
Every time my father stepped on the brakes, he would always reach his arm out in front of me in the passenger seat.
To keep me from lunging forward.
Thinking about it now, I realize that must have been unconscious affection.
Everyone from the Showa generation,
do you have any childhood memories of cars?🚗
Even so, me in this photo—
don't I look strangely tense, crouching like that!?
My expression is smiling, and I'm looking straight at the camera.
Even though I was small, it seems I already had an "awareness of being photographed."

When I started 'An Gahou' (An's Pictorial), I wrote that I wanted to talk about
"The Showa Era,"but I was wondering what to write about...
So, this is what I created before the article itself.
An, the editor-in-chief of [An Gahou], sometimesbecomes a snack bar mama a few times a month. At this snack bar, why don't we
share stories that drift with the scent of the good old Showa era?Old or young, men or women. Hardship stories, boastful stories, anything goes.
If you were inspired by Mama An's stories, talk about it in the comments section.
You can even post a link to your own article!I'd like to say "Showa-born people only!" but don't be so formal!
The Showa atmosphere, curiosity—it's all welcome, so everyone come and hang out.
...It's my usual habit to let the setting come first.
Why do I always create the "container" before the article?
Come to think of it, when I was in my early 30s,
"I want to be a snack bar mama when I turn 60"was a dream I seriously talked about.
Non-smoking, and only a little alcohol
That's a coffee shop!
I've been teased with that line so many times
Listening to stories at a snack bar at night,
and having them spend their days relaxing in the back room
I even made plans while daydreaming about it
Now that I'm approaching that age,
it's not realistic, but
in the world of note, I might be able to make that dream come true just a little bit
That's why I created this magazine
Once in a while,Ann-mama of the snack barwill make an appearance, too
And,[The Showa Era]I would be happy if we could talk all night about stories like that together
Right now, I'm in the middle of closing up my parents' house
Nostalgic photos keep turning up, so the work isn't progressing at all
I've left it for over a year now, but
by April... I definitely will
Memories of the Showa era were not just nostalgic; they were the foundation that supports me as I live today
Thank you for reading this far on such a cold day
Please keep your heart and body warm tonight as well
