Why HSPs Don't Say What They Want to Do
Thank you for your hard work today, too! This is Nara ^^
A slow-moving typhoon is crossing Japan, but is your area safe from any damage?
Since it's moving at about the speed of a bicycle, it's quite different from the initial forecast, and I imagine many of you are having to change your plans.
I also had one plan canceled, but I think I'll use this time to relax at home ^^
...
...
Well, today, let's talk about:
HSPs don't say what they want to do,
not because they can't,
but because they choose not to.
Regarding that.
HSPs, don't you often get told things like this?
"You're overthinking it."
or
"You really think things through, don't you?"
or something similar.
I, too, am often told,
"Nara-chan, you don't look like you're thinking about much,
but you actually think quite deeply, don't you?"
I wonder, "Hmm? Is that a compliment?"
but I always take it as a compliment ^^
In fact, I think HSPs are
thinking.
It's not that non-HSPs aren't thinking, but
compared to non-HSPs,
I think their thinking is deeper.
Is your brain always running at full capacity,
and you don't have time
to talk to yourself?
Within your thoughts,
you face yourself,
observe the people around you,
and notice changes,
and I think you sometimes
find new ideas.
However, it often happens that
you find it hard to conveythe new ideas you've found.
For example, at work.
Like when you propose an idea during a meeting,
and someone says, "Hmm, that's not quite right, is it?"
From an HSP's perspective,
even though you've looked ahead to the future,
it doesn't get across,
and in the end, it just becomes a stopgap solution.
I experienced this quite a lot.
And when things like this continue,
even if I came up with a good idea,
"My idea won't be heard or accepted anyway. It'll just hurt, so I'll just keep quiet."
That's the kind of thinking I'd fall into.
It's a waste, isn't it?
But I also completely understand the feeling of not wanting to get hurt.
So, how can you
communicate what you want to do?
Today, I'd like to share four ways!
How can you do what you want to do
without suppressing your feelings?
1. Find someone who will listen to you until the end
Many people tend to take
what they hear at face value.
However, because HSPs think
deeply about things,
try talking to people who will listen
to the reasons behind your thoughts.
By doing so,
you can incorporate new perspectives,
and what you want to do will take
more concrete shape.
② Re-understand that everyone has their own way of thinking
Don't you think the answer you arrived at after much thought
is a really great idea?
There are times when you feel
a sense of confidence that
could change you.
But what you want to be careful about here is,
it's a good idea for you, but
is it a good idea for everyone else?
That is the question.
Everyone thinks differently.
If you forget that
and only talk about
what is good for you,
it can sometimes just come across as pushy.
Therefore,
try to re-understand the idea that
"everyone is different, and everyone is good."
3. Try doing it the way you think!
This might seem contradictory to point 2, but
just go ahead and do it!
is what I mean.
I think there are times when things just don't feel right.
In those cases, try doing it yourself once, and
if it's different, honestly accept that.
If it was easier to do that way,
adopt it as your own method,
and share it once you get results.
I think that's also a good approach. ^^
4. Acknowledge yourself
If your ideas are rejected,
anyone would get hurt, right?
"My ideas must be wrong."
You end up thinking that, but
I want you, at the very least, to be on your own side.
"I think I came up with a good idea."
"I was able to express my feelings."
Getting hurt is a result of taking action, so
please honestly acknowledge yourself for that. ^^
The reason why HSPs don't say what they want to do, even when they have something in mind,
is that
・They were denied in the past, so they can't say it.
・They want to do it, but they feel anxious and can't take the first step.
I think these are some of the reasons.
I also have HSP traits, but
I am happy
that I am someone who can think things through.
There is no need to force yourself to communicate it.
Within yourself,
as long as you can understand,
“I have this kind of thought!” I think that is enough. ^^
