The weather was bad this weekend, so I went to look at chairs: Hobbies and Idle Thoughts (Hobby Spending) #74
Recently, I've been having pain in my upper right elbow and the right side of my neck. It seems I've developed mouse syndrome. Since my job is primarily desk-based, this is a problem. I think my desk and chair are to blame. For one thing, the desk is a cheap one sold on Amazon that is quite high. The chair is an office chair, but a very cheap second-hand one. The desk is probably the worst part. In this state, it's starting to interfere with my PC work. Of course, since I also use my PC to process images taken with my camera, it's affecting both my work and my hobbies, so I decided to take the plunge and buy a proper desk and chair. Since they cost quite a bit, I wanted to check the comfort of the chairs before deciding to buy, so I went to the IDC Otsuka Kagu Osaka Nanko showroom. I had narrowed my choices down to the Herman Miller Aeron, the Okamura Contessa, and Steelcase, so I tried those out. The Aeron comes in three different seat sizes. I tried them all, and the B size felt the most comfortable. The Contessa isn't bad either, but the armrests are hard. The Aeron has the best armrests. I also tried the Steelcase, but it had all sorts of complicated mechanisms attached, which seemed like a hassle. I guess the Aeron is the one for me.
Char Custom Massage Chair
Ah, they had a massage chair on display that people of my generation who own homes with enough space would definitely end up buying. It even has a touch panel for the control interface. I didn't try it for a long time, but I did test out a partial massage. This massage chair is truly like the seat of an MS cockpit. During the massage, you tilt back slightly. Experiencing it for the first time, I can see why people who like this sort of thing would really love it. The price is 928,000 yen. Well, that's cheaper than buying a car. My only concern is how long it will last.
