Following the new student orientation on the second day of study abroad the other day,
this time I will report on the new students' third day of study abroad.
A voluminous English test!
On this day, we had to travel from early in the morning.
The partner language school is locatedabout 5 minutes by van from Act Houseaway.
And, in the Philippines, road conditions are generally not good.
So, I will overcome the rough Philippine roads together with the new students lol
After arriving at the English school, although it's sudden, the new students will take a“Placement Test”.
It is a test lasting over 3 hourswhere they will take a test on 6 items:
・Reading
・Listening
・Writing
・Speaking
・Vocabulary
・Grammar
This is to
grasp each individual's English proficiencybefore taking English lessons.Of course, there is no problem even if you cannot speak English at all.
In that case, a teacher suitable for beginners will be assigned based on the test results.
However, it is understandable that it takes over 3 hours if there are this many items lol
This is also all necessary to“measure current English proficiency”.
While the new students were taking the voluminous English test, I was doing various tasks while waiting for everyone in the English school's self-study room.
I was doing what I could, such as filming the state of the English school and editing videos to upload to YouTube.
In the afternoon, setup check!
After finishing the English test, the new students took a lunch break in an exhausted state. It varies from person to person, such as going to a local cafeteria called a Carenderia nearby, or starting to cook for themselves.
There was no IT lecture on this day, but using the 16:00“Office Hour”time, we installed tools to be used in the future on the new students' laptops and performed environment settings undermentor guidance.
In particular,“Figma”and“VSCode”will be like partners that you will be with throughout your half-year study abroad.
Both are widely used in the industry, so be sure to install and configure them properly.
This time, there were new students with Windows laptops for the first time in a while, so we proceeded carefully.
For the new students, the morning was a super voluminous English test, but since the afternoon was a relatively relaxed schedule, I think they were able to refresh themselves.
Finally, from the next day,English lessons and IT lectures will start in earnest.
We have finally finished preparing for study abroad.
