Swaying, but not coming undone
When I touch a gentle moment,
I sometimes remember
how I truly wished things could have been.
But,
I already know
that a single moment
does not make a future.
This is a poem about not letting go of my own senses
even while swaying.
Swaying, but not coming undone
aco
When I hold on tight,
the sounds of the world
grow a little more distant.
Even though the things that scared me
and the words that were said to me
are still
churning
deep in my chest,
when I touch something warm,
it softens
just a little bit.
When there is a gentle day,
I remember
how I truly wished things were this way.
But you know,
I already know
that just one day
does not make a future.
I
am watching closely.
Not the words,
but the flow,
the repetitions,
the signs.
That is why
it is okay to sway,
it is okay to be lonely.
But
I will not come undone.
The "this is not the place"
inside of me
is properly
protecting me.

but
it will not come undone
Afterword
When you touch upon kindness,
your heart may sway a little.
Even so,
I do not want to pretend that the discomfort within me,
or the flow I have observed properly,
never existed.
Swaying, but not coming undone.
I wrote down that feeling just as it is.
