Pros and Cons of Fossil Fuel-Derived Plastics
Lighter than metal and glass, contributing to energy-efficient designs... yet lightweight and high-strength. Therefore, it is ideal for versatile applications and can be mass-produced. In other words, it possesses the advantages of high productivity combined with excellent chemical and weather resistance, but it is derived from fossil fuels. After use (so-called waste), due to a low recycling rate, it relies on landfill/incineration, meaning resource circulation is insufficient, and CO₂ emissions during incineration are a disadvantage (challenge).
