Construction Case Studies and New Product Information for Interior Louvers that Create Unique Spaces

When considering architectural design, the ceiling is one of the most important elements that significantly influences the image of a space.
Among these, louvers add depth and movement, enabling unique expressions.

The Interline Series is an extruded aluminum louver that can create simple yet unique ceilings. With a rich lineup of color variations, shapes, and installation methods (suspended ceiling or direct-mount construction), it has colored numerous spaces to date.

This time, we will introduce original construction case studies and a newly released, innovative slanted louver that you might not have seen before.

Construction Case Study 1: Using multiple finishes to add accents to a space

Kyoto Racecourse has been reborn as the "JRA Centennial Park Kyoto Racecourse" following a full renovation of the main stand and a complete interior renewal of the existing stands as a commemorative project for its 100th anniversary in 2025.

The ceilings in the passageways of the facility, which is based on the concept of a "racecourse like a park open to the town," are decorated with Interline Direct-Mount Interlocking louvers. They were adopted to clearly characterize the space as the main customer flow line connecting the track side (course side) and the paddock side.

Multiple texture materials were used for the louvers. By synchronizing the ceiling and floor designs and finishing them randomly, we created a space that stirs the emotions.

Construction Case Study 2: Recreating "Shibuya-ness" with louvers

The "Shibuchika" underground shopping mall, which spreads out beneath JR Shibuya Station, underwent a major renovation to ensure safety and peace of mind and to realize a bright and comfortable space, reopening in July 2021.

In contrast to the above-ground scramble crossing, which is a symbol of Shibuya, Interline was adopted for the ceiling based on a commercial environment design proposal to create an "Another Scramble" underground. At the intersections of the passageways, the louvers are arranged to cross in double and triple layers, creating a sense of circulation and attraction.

◆New Product Information◆ A new option for slanted louvers has arrived

The slanted louver Interline Series has created various spaces through the ideas of architects. Now, Interline Direct-Mount Interlocking Colorie has been added, allowing you to customize different colors and patterns for each side.

With mainstream square louvers, it is common for the left and right sides and the face (and ends) to all be the same color and pattern. On the other hand, there were many requests to "customize the color and pattern for each side."

Interline Direct-Mount Interlocking Colorie has made it possible to change the color and pattern of each side through a new structure that separates the face from the louver.

Finishes are available in a wide variety, including sheet lamination, baked painting, veneer specifications, and secondary electrolytic coloring. For example, you can change the appearance of the color depending on whether you are walking forward or backward, or change the color of just the face to create an accent; there are a wide variety of ways to use it depending on your ideas.
