The Mummy-Catcher Becomes a Mummy | Amano Writing Club
When Tanaka announced he was quitting Yamamoto Trading, the president called me in.
"You're close with Tanaka, right? Go persuade him."
I headed over to Tanaka's apartment.
In front of an electric potter's wheel, Tanaka told me he was going to start pottery. He had even made plans to quit his job and build a kiln in the mountains.
To my astonishment, Tanaka said to me,
"Just try it once, you only have to spin it."
Three hours later, I was sitting next to Tanaka with my hands covered in clay.
The pleasure of the clay slipping between my fingers was something I had never experienced before.
The next morning, I reported to the president.
"How did the persuasion go?"
"He's quitting."
"Is Tanaka's resolve firm?"
"He's quitting. And so am I."
The president was silent for a while. Then he let out a deep sigh.
"...I suppose I have no choice but to go persuade him myself. Please, just wait a moment."
Tanaka and I gave in to the president's persuasion.
Three months later, the company name changed.
Yamamoto Pottery Co., Ltd.
I am participating in Mitsuru Amano's Amano Writing Club.
