I Want to Eat an Eclair | Amano Writing Club
"I want to eat an eclair."
I said that to my husband. It was 11 p.m.
"Right now?"
My husband asked. I nodded.
"Yeah."
I know I'm being selfish.
But I really want to eat one. I want to eat it right now.
"I'll go to the convenience store."
Saying that with a serious face, my husband put on his coat and went out.
It's a five-minute walk to the convenience store.
You could say it's close.
While I felt sorry, I also made excuses to myself that I couldn't help it since I wanted to eat it now.
My husband returned with his face stiff from the cold.
"I'm home. Here, this is for you."
"Thank you."
I took the eclair.
I took a bite.
"It's delicious."
I even felt glad to be alive.
"Do you want some too?"
I asked, just to be polite.
"It's okay. You eat it."
Feeling relieved, I answered my husband.
"Thank you."
My husband continued.
"If you want to eat one again, just let me know."
Eight months pregnant.
Lately, the things I want to eat change suddenly.
Perhaps this is how we are becoming a mom and a dad.
I would like to participate in the Amano Writing Club.
