I opened my first shop of 2026.
Well, I recently attended the opening commemorative event for "Tsunagari BASE," a rental and coworking space that opened in Obu City, Aichi Prefecture.
Tsunagari Marche
I had the opportunity to set up a shop there.
I don't usually open shops very often, but I participated because I wanted to support a friend who is working hard.
I participated to support a friend who is working hard.
It had been such a long time since I last opened a shop that I felt quite out of practice. I was restless and nervous until the day before.
For this shop, I brought my partner laser cutter to provide an interactive experience where people could see things being made right on the spot!
The people running Tsunagari BASE are all moms in the thick of raising children.
And the people gathering there are also moms.
Expecting this,
I went into it with the hope that children would be able to touch wood, use their own imaginations, and experience the process of making things to see how they are created.
Both adults and children were very curious to see things being processed right in front of them,
and whether they were participating or not, everyone was very impressed by the processing. (Proudly)
The machine I use can also cut, so
there was surprise at the shapes I could make!
The children were glued to the machine and wouldn't leave.
Many children were able to experience it.

Each person had a different theme,
from their favorite characters and portraits,
to the Chinese zodiac and expressions of what Tsunagari BASE means to them,
which was also very entertaining for me to watch.

This was a small-scale event held indoors in a private room, so I was able to assist each group one by one.
Thanks to that, I was able to take my time with each person,
and instead of doing things quickly myself as I usually do, I intentionally asked,
"Do you want to try it?"
For example, the cut edges get your hands dirty, so I wipe them off. When I asked if they wanted to do it, 100% of them said yes! I apply masking tape to prevent resin from sticking during engraving, which I peel off after processing, and it's very detailed work. When I asked if they wanted to do it, everyone said yes.
Everyone even attached the chains themselves at the end.
They really do want to do it after all.
That's what I realized.
Whether I was creating the data or during the processing, everyone was glued to it watching.
Everyone's eyes were so serious!
Everyone was not messing around at all! lol
A crafting experience where you can touch the materials, design it yourself, and finish it yourself.
I'm not sure how much of an impression I was able to leave on them, but
I realized that the experience of the production process, which I had casually felt had no particular value, can actually be of great value.
Since I was able to take my time with each group this time, I was able to handle it by myself, but
I thought that if there are opportunities in the future, I would like to provide experiences like this, even if just a little bit!
If there are any organizers, shops, or companies interested,
please feel free to contact me 😊
I had a great time too!
Thank you all so much!!
