Profiting Even on Ordinary Days [Foreign Currency Trading Diary 21]

Hello. My true summer vacation has begun. This is Yuki.

I was busy all day today, but I managed to find time to write an article after getting home, so I'm jotting down a few lines.

Today, I would like to go over the trades from Wednesday, August 6th!

This will be a shorter article than usual, but I think that makes it easier to read, so please be sure to leave a like 👹

Review of the previous session

First, let's start with a review of the previous session as always.

Last time, I focused on two events:

I introduced the trades I made before and after these events!

I would like to pass down the story of how I made the sophisticated move of buying US dollars near the lowest price of the day and selling them off near the highest price to my grandchildren.

Building on this, today I would like to talk about the economic events and the trades I made on Wednesday, August 6th, in the same way.

A calm day today

The reason I declared at the beginning that this would be a short article is that there werenoparticularly notable events on Wednesday.

This is the table I also used in the article from two sessions ago.

If you look at the column for August 6th, you can see that there are three events.

🇪🇺Retail Sales 18:00

First, as you can tell from the list of company names, the 🇯🇵🇺🇸 items are likely related to stock investments.

Therefore, I will skip them.

Regarding the 🇪🇺 retail sales, it seems relevant to foreign exchange trading, and since I actually held Euros, I was thinking of monitoring the trends in real-time, but...

While the Bank of Japan meeting minutes and the non-manufacturing business sentiment index on Tuesday were in bold, the retail sales on Wednesday were not in bold, so I considered them not important and did not make any particular moves this time.

(Monday's manufacturing new orders weren't in bold either, so maybe I didn't need to observe them in real-time that day.)

I also had plans to work on my graduation research at the university until after 18:00 that day, so it worked out perfectly 🙆

-Trade ①②-

Come to think of it, there was a trade I forgot to introduce yesterday.

On Tuesday, 8/5 at 19:11, the Euro-Yen pair started to rise, so I purchased 10,000 yen worth of Euros at a rate of 1 Euro = 170.47 yen, which came to 58.66 Euros.

Then, on Wednesday, 8/6, the Euro I bought yesterday rose in value as expected, generating a profit, and since I was in a position to take the risk of investing more, I purchased an additional 10,000 yen worth.

Please take a look at this.

I purchased 58.34 Euros at 1 Euro = 171.39 yen (did you notice it has gone up by nearly 1 yen since yesterday?).

However, I don't want to lose money, so I set a limit order to automatically sell at the timing when the profit starts to decrease slightly.

Please take a look at this.

In the end, the specified price was reached about an hour later, so this order was executed.

20,000 yen worth of what I bought came back as 20,021 yen. (Sparkle)

Since I made a profit, even if it's a small amount, it's a win.

I would like to walk proudly through the Yuda Onsen district.

(Because the yen strengthened and the dollar weakened due to the announcement of the 🇺🇸 employment statistics last week, the time deposit portion has decreased & I cut my losses in Euros yesterday, so the total balance has decreased, but I want to believe that other participants are the same. However, I was able to make a profit yesterday, so let's stay positive!)
