Me, Automatic Doors, and Convenience. (June 24th)

It happened at a shop I stopped by yesterday.
When I tried to enter the store, the door didn't open automatically, and I was confused.
A clerk noticed and opened the door for me by hand, but they looked terribly apologetic, apologizing for the fact that it was broken and could not open and close automatically.
Even though there was a notice posted right next to the door stating that it was out of order and should be opened by hand, the people behind me also kept getting stuck in front of the door.
Every time that happened, I saw the scene of the clerk interrupting their work to run over and open or close the door.

Come to think of it, in the days before automatic doors, we opened and closed doors with our own hands without any confusion, and we didn't feel it was inconvenient.
Before we knew it, we started taking it for granted that doors move automatically, and the moment that assumption is gone, we are left feeling terribly confused and standing still.
We feel so inconvenienced by even such a small malfunction.
When you think about it, isn't our current life built upon a very precarious balance?
*
In my home, just a power outage causes the hot water system to go down.
The kitchen faucet, the bath, and even the toilet become unusable.
At this time of year, it's getting hard to manage without air conditioning.
In our pursuit of convenience, aren't we unknowingly rushing toward a very distorted way of life?
The fear of taking convenience for granted.
Have you ever felt that way too?
I hope you have a good day today as well.
