My Memories of Working Behind the Scenes. (July 21st)
*
(This text was written by 🎻Emiri.)
At concert venues, we are supported by various behind-the-scenes staff, such as stagehands and sound technicians.
They may not have the spotlight on stage, but they work with pride and responsibility in their jobs.
If it weren't for the behind-the-scenes staff, the curtain would never rise. I am very grateful to them.
*
To express my gratitude, whenever I enter a venue, I try to greet them as much as I can without getting in their way.
This is when I provide refreshments.
It is hard work, so they are drenched in sweat even in winter.
That is why I bring large bottles of sports drinks and barley tea.
And salty snacks like salt crackers.
About three years ago, 'salt candies' were newly added to the list.
And sweets.
'Sweets are invincible,' after all.
Oh, and don't forget the 'paper plates and paper cups'.
If I forget these, everyone can't share the snacks.
(When I first started, I didn't realize this... and caused a lot of trouble.💦)

Now, what I remember about behind-the-scenes work is the 'student orchestra' I worked hard in during my student days.
Student orchestras are basically self-managed.
For example, for a recital, we do everything ourselves, from light tasks like ticket taking to heavy physical labor like setting up and tearing down the venue.
*
For setup and teardown, we wear jerseys and T-shirts, with towels tied around our heads like headbands so sweat doesn't drip down.
When it comes to this, there's no distinction between men and women. I also worked hard with sweat on my brow.
Some of the girls would avoid it, saying they might hurt a muscle or didn't want to sweat, but I liked it. The physical labor.
While people around me would say, 'You look like you're having fun!', I would tackle it with joy.
*
Now, I am just someone who plays, but perhaps it is because of my experience with physical labor in the student orchestra that I can deeply understand the hardships of the venue staff.
If I tried to do behind-the-scenes work now, I think people around me would stop me. (^^)
But I would like to do it once in a while.
These are my memories of behind-the-scenes work.
I hope you have a good day today, too.
