🧺 I might have divorced if it weren't for home appliances—What is a marriage? Where my views on marriage stand now
"I'm not sure if I love my husband or not."
But right now, I am incredibly happy every day.
Thanks to home appliances, I stepped back from the brink of divorce,
and since I stopped walking on eggshells around my husband, my married life has become "comfortable."
This time, I'm sharing my all-too-real story about my "views on marriage."
◆ Me, a serial job-hopper, and the start of married life
When we got married and started living together, I was job-hopping because work was just too painful.
"Won't my husband hate me for being like this?"
I was anxious every single day.
So, after quitting a job, I would throw myself into housework as if to atone for my sins.
I cooked, did laundry, and even woke up early to make bento boxes, even though I hated doing those things.
Thinking back, I was completely doing it "on my own accord."
But at the time, I genuinely believed it.
I thought, "Because I'm a woman, it's only natural that I do the housework for my husband."
◆ I hate housework. It was just better than working
I'm not good at housework.
Work was just so painful that I thought, "Being at home is better than that."
That's the only reason I kept it up.
But then came the postpartum period.
Between childcare and joint pain, I couldn't even think about housework.
Even so, I endured the pain and kept doing the housework.
Why?
Because somewhere deep down, I was convinced that "mothers are supposed to endure."
◆ "Isn't it just a matter of your mindset?" was the trigger
One day, when I told my husband about my joint pain, his response was,
"Isn't it just a matter of your mindset?"
In that moment, the word "divorce" crossed my mind.
That was probably,my breaking point.
◆ A single washing machine can change a marriage
I took the plunge and used my savings from my single days to buy aPanasonic drum-type washing machine.
My husband was against it at first, but when I said, "I'll pay for it," he suddenly became eager. Lol
And finally...
My husband started doing the laundry himself.
(It's just pressing a button, after all)
I thought to myself,
"A woman spending her own money can change her life."
◆ I don't know if I "love" my husband. But I'm happy now
Right now, I'm living happily every day. My son is adorable.
But honestly, I'm not sure if I really love my husband.
Maybe it's just that there's nothing bad enough to make me want a divorce.
But I think that's fine.
In fact, having 'no complaints' is actually quite impressive.
◆ And I am the person I am most interested in
If my husband cheated on me, I'd probably think,
'Lucky me, I'll get some alimony money.'
I think I've reached the point where I am the person I'm most interested in.
But I am grateful to my husband.
Living in a spacious house and keeping childcare running is all thanks to him.
Maybe love is just the accumulation of those kinds of 'facts'.

Home appliances are gods. Housework is a subtle form of violence.
And for my life, 'comfort' is everything.
'Whether I love him or not' can be a gradient.
The peace of mind that comes from 'being able to live properly'
might be the greatest expression of love.
✨ Thank you for reading this far.
Likes, follows, and comments are my greatest encouragement.
I'd be happy if I could convey that there are lives saved by home appliances.
