The Warehouse That Should Have Been Empty
Friday night.
Giving in to the week's fatigue and the heat, I decided on McDonald's for dinner.
At the office, I set the ALSOK security system, locked the front door, and left for the day.
The restaurant is a five-minute drive away.
A Samurai Mac potato set. A Coke to drink.
Time to eat.
The moment I thought that, I got a call from an employee who should have already gone home.
I had a bad feeling, so I hurriedly ate my hamburger first.
It probably didn't even take a minute.
When I called them back,
I'm sorry. I forgot to lock the warehouse door.
The warehouse door can only be locked from the inside.
The employee didn't have the front door key or the security key.
I'm at the McDonald's nearby, so I'll lock it on my way back.
I was glad I had come to McDonald's.
I finished off the rest of the fries and Coke and headed back to the office.
When I arrived at the office, an ALSOK car was parked there.
The representative said,
A few minutes ago, there were three errors at the warehouse door.
When I checked with the employee,
Ah, I opened it!
The culprit confessed immediately. (I wish you had told me that during the first phone call.)
After I explained the situation, the ALSOK representative responded with a smile.
There were three errors, so I thought it was a bit strange.
I replied,
I think the employee opened and closed it by mistake.
Then I entered the office alone.
The office was quiet with no one there.
The air conditioning was off, and it was sweltering.
The warehouse is even hotter.
As I walked, the words from earlier came back to me.
Three errors.
Once for opening the door that was closed.
Twice for closing it.
Three times for opening it again.
However, both when I left the office and when I returned,
the warehouse door was closed.
Then, when was the third time it was opened,
and by whom?
My feet stopped for a moment.
As I approached the warehouse, I smelled something good from somewhere.
A savory, meat-like smell.
Did an employee eat dinner here or something?
I checked inside the warehouse, but no one was there.
I couldn't find anything suspicious either.
I locked the door, set the security, and went outside.
An ALSOK representative was waiting for me at the entrance with a smile.
Was everything okay?
No problems.
When I answered that, I smelled the same scent again.
The ALSOK representative also smelled like good, grilled meat.
When I got home and was relaxing in my room, I smelled it again.
This time, I understood clearly.
It was the smell of a BBQ.
Is it the neighbor?
It's a bit annoying that the smell is coming all the way into my room.
Feeling irritated, I took a shower and looked in the mirror.
That was when I realized everything.
There was Samurai Mac sauce smeared all over my nose.
Is that why the ALSOK representative was smiling?
