USB Flash Drive Review: Silicon Power Jewel J06
Review of Silicon Power Jewel J06 64GB
This is a review of the Silicon Power Jewel J06 64GB.
It is a mid-range model with a toggle-type short body.
Catalog Specifications (Manufacturer's Published Values)
It is a toggle-type plastic body with a width of 16.00mm, length of 24.00mm, height of 8.10mm, and weight of 3.6g. Performance is not disclosed.
Benchmark Test (CrystalDiskMark)
I have the impression that Silicon Power products have decent read speeds and better random speeds than others.
I think this product also firmly possesses the characteristics of Silicon Power products. Or rather, I think the product performance itself is similar.
The sequential read speed is over 100MB/s and the random speed is solid, so it can be said that it is a well-balanced product as a USB flash drive.

Capacity/Read/Write Test (H2testw)
In the read/write test, although there are some drops in speed, I think it can be said that the results are generally good. The average of previous tests is 98.10MB/s for read speed and 24.41MB/s for write speed, so it is a value close to the average.
This is my impression considering that it can be used without much dissatisfaction in practical use, and based on the average values after verifying the fastest models.

Ubuntu Installation/Boot Test
Installation (Write) Test
The installation took 20 minutes and 39 seconds. Since the overall average for verified USB flash drives is 27 minutes and 28 seconds, the measurement result is faster than average.
The reference speed is 16.14MB/s.
Boot (Read) Test
The boot took 41 seconds. The overall average for verified USB flash drives is 3 minutes and 0 seconds. It is the fastest in the mid-class and even exceeds some of the high-end class.
The reference speed is 195.12MB/s.
Other Good Points and Concerns
Good: The overall design, including the plug cap, has a sense of unity.
Concern: The strap hole is a bit small, so you might have to be selective about the strap.
Concern: Because of the curved design, there is no grip, making it easy for your hand to slip when attaching or detaching.
I think there are pros and cons regarding the design and the cap, so I wrote about both in the article. Regarding the strap hole, compared to the SanDisk Ultra Fit, it is smaller, and I have the impression that it is a bit difficult to choose a strap.
I think it is commendable that they have managed to create an overall compact body, include all possible features, and integrate them into a well-balanced design.

In terms of performance, it is close to the average, with some excellent aspects. It is a product that truly reflects the characteristics of Silicon Power products.
Regarding cost performance, at 18.98 yen/GB, it is a highly rated point that it is under 20 yen, especially given the recent price increases.
After finishing the verification tests for the Silicon Power Jewel J06,
my thought is: this is definitely a Silicon Power product.
I have verified several Silicon Power products, and in a good way, this product was no exception. Rather than having performance variations depending on the model, the fact that every model maintains a certain level of performance or higher is, in a word, wonderful.
