"I should have said that back then..."
"What if I fail again?"
Do you ever find yourself
repeatedly dwelling on
past events or failures?
This is
a brain habit known as
"rumination."
Rumination refers to
a state of
repeatedly thinking about
things that have already ended or
the uncontrollable future.
At first glance,
it might seem like you are a serious
and thoughtful person,
but in reality, this habit
is a dangerous practice
that easily stresses the brain.
Research shows that
when rumination continues,
the brain's amygdala (the origin of emotion)
becomes overactive,
which can lead to
anxiety and depression.
So, how can you
stop it?
The key is to bring
your awareness back to the 'here and now'.
Moving your body (walking, stretching)
Regulating your breathing (deep breathing, meditation)
Writing down your thoughts
—these kinds of actions
can help you break free
from the loop of rumination.
Overthinking is
a sign of brain fatigue.
Take a moment to pause
Try to make time to cherish your 'current self'.
Let's create some.
