About the story I am currently writing...
I am currently writing a story called "The Death-Seeking War God."
The synopsis is...
It is a story about "Suzaku," a girl who possesses an immortal body and detests her own "power" to an abnormal degree, and "Sensei," who, despite having the true ability of an Onmyoji, lives day-to-day as a wandering exorcist of demons.
In this story, various yokai, spirits, and even gods appear.
It is not that I want to write high fantasy. It is just that I feel that yokai and gods are familiar, everyday existences.
The reason I feel this way is because of things like the existence of Jesus Christ in Christianity, or the secrets behind the births of Shuten-doji and Abe no Seimei. It is hard to believe at first, but I hear legends of people conceiving children of gods or of humans mating with yokai. It is easy to dismiss those things as fiction.
However... whether it is mythology or folklore about yokai, I believe there is always something behind the background of how those stories were passed down.
I dislike convenient mythology. I dislike the idea that because someone is a god, they are forgiven for anything, or that because someone is a yokai, they must be exterminated. There are always reasons, both large and small, for everything. I want to incorporate that into my story.
That is why... it might be a bit reckless, but I am writing a story in which both yokai and gods appear.
