I Can't Sleep! [Creative Award Impressions]
I'm going to write my impressions of Mirai Yoshiho's "Sleeping Woman"!
The title says I can't sleep, but due to work, I had no choice but to read up to chapter 6 and go to sleep yesterday (lol).
And today, I finished reading it! (▭-▭)✨
First of all.
Is this the difference in class...
That was my first impression when I started reading this story.
If I were building a mountain ⛰ and digging tunnels in a sandbox,
Yoshiho-san was building a magnificent castle 🏰 on the beach.
That's how different it was.
Huh? What?
I've been enjoying building tunnels all this time 😨
I thought I was putting my heart and soul into building a castle, but huh? Was I just a child happy about digging a tunnel 🤝 Yay 🙌? I felt like that 🫢.
(Well, it was fun, so that's fine 🤣)
#WhatAreYouTalkingAbout
In other words.
I thought, this is what a novel is!
The story development, the structure of the prose, the vocabulary—everything.
I am currently experiencing a novel.
It feels just like holding a book in my hands.
The number of books I've read can be counted on my fingers.
Among them, the works I thought were amazing were mainly dialogue-driven, with twists and emotional moments.
When there is little dialogue and the prose is the main focus, it feels like I'm being forced to read an explanatory text, and I lose interest.
But!!!
Yoshiho-san's "Sleeping Woman" was different.
There is a lot of prose outside of dialogue.
And yet! I was drawn in as I read.
It doesn't become too explanatory; it has a charm that makes it feel like I'm peeking into someone's thoughts.
The descriptions are smooth, the amount of information is just right, and it's truly amazing 👏
I don't know much because I lack experience.
If people around me say that this type of writing is common and standard in novels, then I'll accept that I'm just ignorant.
However, among everything I've read so far, I thought to myself.
I feel like I've read a novel that I can truly call a novel!
Other people's works have their own individuality and charm.
And I don't think they aren't novels.
To me, they feel like subspecies of novels.
Novels with strong personalities.
Yoshiho-san is, how should I put it, a true boss of the novel world.
I was like, Wow! That's so cool! 😳✨
Each attack (vocabulary) is amazing. And the way she uses those attacks (expressions and phrasing) is skillful.
I think I need to calm down a bit.
(∩ˇωˇ)∩Sigh…(⊃ˇωˇ)⊃Phew
This story is about a protagonist with a sleep disorder (like narcolepsy) who searches for her husband, who has gone missing along with her ex-boyfriend and sister-in-law (cousin).
There is already so much information that it's congested.
However, rest assured.
In this novel, the content is understood very naturally as you read. Seriously, it's amazing.
Moreover, I thought this story would be a tangled, muddy mess, but while it was tangled, it was a beautiful mess. (What does that mean 🤨)
In other words, you can cry towards the end. It makes you think, what a good story! 😢 I quietly cried in chapter 9 🤧
The foreshadowing is brilliantly resolved.
It's like magic.
How do you write like this?
Ah, the difference in experience, I realize.
It's interesting. Not in a way that makes you laugh, but in a way that draws you into the story.
The story, the structure, and even the words themselves have no awkwardness or stumbling blocks.
I think this is what it means to be able to concentrate on a story.
Yes, I think it's a flawless work that lets you focus on the story.
A long novel that doesn't feel difficult to read.
So this is Mirai Yoshiho of Yoshihodo...
I realize now, belatedly, that I dragged such an amazing person into my own novel as a character without permission 🫢😂
I am truly sorry for that 🫣
But I also think that in terms of positioning, I wasn't wrong 🤣
So, thank you for all your hard work on the Creative Awards!
Thank you for reading this far,
thank you very much (-人-)
