Viridian Hue: "The Color of Sunlight Filtering Through Trees" - A Contribution to the 'Single Color Exhibition'

My name is Viridian Hue. Everyone calls me Viridian.

Oh, does it remind you of your school days? I see. Most people say they first met me back in elementary school. I wonder if you remember those sketching trips where everyone walked through the park with drawing boards slung over their shoulders under the sunlight filtering through the trees.

You know, I get asked a lot, "Who are you?" I think to myself, "How rude," but I'm used to it by now, so I just answer with a smile.

First of all, I was born from chromium, a mineral found in mountains.

And without me, you couldn't create the "green" of the forest, the "young leaf color" of fresh greenery, or the "moss color" sparkling with dew.

Huh? You're asking if I'm just "green"?

Well, I hear that often. The origin of my name is the Latin word for "green." I suppose I am indeed one of the "greens."

But you see, while you can create "green" from me, you can't do the reverse. In other words, I can create new colors, but you can't create me from anything else! Don't you think that's wonderful?

I can become anything, and I can give birth to new things.

But "my color" will never change.

That is who I am, Viridian Hue.

Mai-san's noteI participated in a collaboration project by Asami Ishino that I learned about through! All of Asami-san's creations are so cute!! It reminded me of my favorite art classes. I was a little torn on which one to choose, but I decided to go with "Viridian," which was a mysterious color to me back in elementary school. When I looked it up, I found some interesting facts, so I wrote this piece based on that.

It was a lot of fun to write. Asami-san, thank you for such a wonderful project!
