Dreams come true in ways that suit you better than you imagined

Two years ago, I wrote an article titled "I want to become a modern witch."
It is the article of mine that has received the most likes.

I want to write books. I want to draw. I want to heal people through dialogue using fortune-telling as an entry point. Someday, I want to have my own shop.

It is an article where I packed in my dreams at the time, just as they came to me, while I was still a company employee struggling with symptoms of depression and panic.📦

I think I wanted to solidify my determination to make them come true by putting them into words and releasing them, because if I kept them inside, they might have disappeared before I knew it.

When I reread that article for the first time in a while, I felt a little embarrassed.

I, who was still nobody, was talking about my dreams so straightforwardly.
My way of thinking and my writing were much clumsier than they are now, but because of that, the feelings of wanting to "live this way" while still being lost remained exactly as they were.

And as I read on, I realized something.

The dreams I wrote about back then were a little different from what I had imagined, but several of them had already started to come true.

I wished to "become a modern witch."🧙🏻‍♀️

I have admired witches since I was a child.

It started with a book I borrowed from the library in elementary school called "The West Witch is Dead."

For me, a witch was not just someone who could use mysterious magic.
Someone with a rich sensibility, who has their own will and lives according to that will.
Someone who cherishes nature and daily life, and can use their wisdom and power for the sake of others.

In my old article, I wrote that I wanted to become such a modern witch and help loosen up those who are struggling with the difficulties of living and working, or those whose hearts have become stiff from trying too hard.

To that end, I want to write books. I want to draw. I want to do star readings. I want to have a shop filled with my own world.
I was spreading out many dreams like that.

But looking back now, I think what I truly desired was not such a limited way of achieving them, but something on a much larger scale.

I want to put my sensibilities and experiences into words and forms, and deliver them to those who need them. I want to create time for that person to understand themselves a little better, or to relax their stiffened hearts.

Perhaps I have been wishing for such things all along.

In a form a little different from what I had dreamed of.🌈

The dream of wanting to write a book has not come true yet.

Even so, I am still continuing to write articles on note.
I have been writing online for about six years now.

I write articles about my experiences and thoughts, have people purchase my paid articles, and have been running a membership for over two years.

And actually, I have also been quietly producing a ZINE of over 100 pages about astrology, with the support of someone special.
(Believe it or not, it has taken over half a year to complete! 😂)

Even so, I feel that my dream of writing a book is gradually taking shape.

Drawing is no longer the center of my work.
However, giving form to my own sensibilities is connected to design, creating materials, and building the worldview of "Utatane."

I drew the cover for the astrology ZINE myself, so I hope you look forward to its release.

And the dream of "wanting to do astrology" has truly become my job.

I currently live in Okinawa, surrounded by great nature, and work using astrology.

Instead of one-sidedly conveying the meaning of a horoscope, I reweave it into words that the person can receive and apply to their own life.
Through sessions and my "Star Instruction Manual," I work together with them to organize their nature, strengths, and areas where they tend to push themselves too hard.

Recently, in addition to reading the stars and offering words, I have also started accompanying people through the process of finding the "likes" and wishes within them and shaping them into work.
It is work that goes beyond just astrology, as we organize service content together and think about outreach and pricing.

This was a job I had vaguely felt suited me for a long time, but I thought it would be years before I could actually do it.

That is because I thought that someone like me, who had no track record yet, couldn't possibly give advice on other people's work.

I never imagined that I would quit my company so soon, move to Okinawa, and start creating services with others or thinking about their outreach and pricing.

However, I think this is also a continuation of that wish I had back then: "I want to help people who are struggling with life and work."

Dreams do not always come true in the exact way you imagined them in your head.

Even so, the true wish behind the dream might just be finding the form that suits you best over time.

I realized it was okay for the dream of having a shop to be further in the future 🧺

In the past, I dreamed of a shop that looked like a cafe in an old folk house combined with a magical goods store, tucked away deep in the forest.

A space that is sparkling like Christmas every day, yet quiet and relaxing.
Serving coffee, tea, and sweets there while reading the stars for each person.
I have written about wanting to create such a place.

Currently, I do not have a physical store.

However, under the name "Utatane," I have been able to start an activity that is like a small shop, packed with my own values and the things I love.

That said, just because I have found a substitute for a physical store doesn't mean my old dream is over.

There is a possibility that the current Utatane will lead to a real store someday.
It might be in a place completely different from the old folk house I once imagined, and it might not be a cafe or a general store.

For now, I don't know what form it will take or when it will happen.

As long as I don't know, I think it's fine if it doesn't come true yet.
Besides, I feel that being a shop owner will suit me better when I am older than it did when I was in my twenties.

Leaving a dream for the future is not the same as giving up on it.
I now see it as perfectly fine to have dreams that are waiting for the right time to sprout somewhere in life.

Dreams each have their own time to bloom🌳

I still have other dreams as well.

Someday, I want to travel around the world and experience the lives and cultures of lands I don't know.
I also want to create services and systems that can provide more people with opportunities for self-understanding.

Recently, I have started thinking not only about continuing to work alone but also about growing a business together with someone else.

It is much more realistic than it used to be, and some days it looks more like a business plan than a dream (laughs).

On the other hand, I am also thinking about having children now.

If I have a child, I might have to step away from my work dreams for a while.
There is a possibility that I won't be able to devote the same time and energy as I do now, or that the plans I envisioned might be delayed by many years.

But, as I am now, I think that is fine.

It is not that I want to give up on my work.
I want to shape what I can do one by one without compromising on my dreams.

Even so, there must be things that can only be experienced at that time, like the time spent with a child.

In what order and balance should I consider work and children?
For me, someone who wants children while also having career dreams, this is a problem that does not have an easy answer.

However, precisely because time is a factor when it comes to children, I have come to think that I want to face it now rather than keep putting it off by saying, 'I'll think about it after work settles down a bit.'

You don't have to go through everything in life in the order you first decided.

It is okay to have a period where your work pace slows down, and it is okay for a period to come later where you grow something significantly.
I think it is enough if I can properly cherish what I want to cherish at that time.

In the past, I always felt anxious somewhere, feeling that if I didn't put my dreams into words and share them, they would disappear.

It is a little different now.

If a wish is truly important to you, it will not easily disappear, even if you keep it to yourself instead of speaking it aloud, even if you step away from it for a time, or even if it changes its form.
I believe that it will appear in your life again, growing into a form that you are ready to receive at that time.

I also like the idea of manifestation.

That said, it does not mean that if you just wish for something, it will come true without you doing anything.

It is about doing what you can every day to bring your ideals closer to reality, while not trying to control everything, including the timing and the method of how it comes true.
For me, manifestation is close to that feeling.

Wishes do not always come through the single path you envisioned.

Sometimes, through encounters with work I could not have imagined at the time, changes in my lifestyle, or connections with people, I realize that it has come true in a way that is more natural for me.

I think that dreams have their own right time and their own right way of coming true.

Reading the stars and weaving words. And then 🌌

Less than a year after I wrote that article, I moved to Okinawa with my husband.

In Okinawa, I chose to quit my job as a company employee, and now I live with my husband and two cats, working under the name "Utatane".

I read the stars, weave words, and search for what lies within people who have lost sight of themselves.
Furthermore, I help them think about how to turn the "likes" and strengths they have found into work or activities.

I still don't really know if I have become the "modern witch" I once dreamed of being.

I don't have a magic goods shop or a cafe in an old house in the woods yet.
Traveling around the world and publishing a book are still in the future.

Even so, I feel that if my past self saw my life now, she would say, "It's a little different from what I imagined, but it looks fun."

Dreams are not just about whether they came true or not.

Some have already come true, while others have changed into unexpected forms.
There are things I once let go of that might return someday, and others that are still quietly growing somewhere in my life.

That is why I don't think I need to decide everything about my future dreams right now or declare them with big words.

A future where I cherish time with my children, a future where I am absorbed in my work, a future where I travel the world, and a future where I own a shop someday—all of these continue from who I am now.

I want to move forward without compromising on my dreams, while choosing what is important to me at each moment.

Reading the stars and weaving words.

What kind of work and life awaits beyond this point?

I hope to continue writing the chapters that are yet to be revealed.🧺

For those who read this article and felt like reflecting on their own dreams and wishes.

I previously created a 'manifestation exercise' not just to imagine an ideal future, but to gradually bring it closer to your current life.🌙

I personally value both writing down my wishes and layering in the things I can do each day.

If you'd like, please try using this as well.^^
