The other day,
I was looking at my second miniature house.
This time, it's a Western-style confectionery shop.
In the display case, there are
cakes,
donuts,
macarons,
and baked goods.
Each one
is only about the size of a fingertip.
And yet,
I wonder why.
They actually look delicious 😋
Of course,
you can't eat them.
Well,
you'd get in trouble if you did 🤣
But,
they still make me feel a little hungry.
It's a mystery.
──Come to think of it,
Real sweets
disappear once you eat them.
But,
miniature sweets
never disappear.
The shortcake
stays in its most delicious-looking moment forever.
The donuts, too,
keep the memory of being freshly baked.
And the macarons
remain lined up there,
never chosen by anyone.
Only time has stopped.
──Thinking about it that way,
perhaps for sweets,
the time spent wondering "which one should I choose?"
is happier than the moment you actually eat them.
Stopping in front of the display case,
Maybe chocolate today.
No,
maybe strawberry.
Then again, pudding is hard to pass up.

For those few minutes,
everything
can still become your own future.

A miniature house

In this shop,
there are no clerks.
There are no customers.
But,
I feel like just a moment ago,
I heard a voice say,
"Welcome."
Even though no one is there,
only the time remains.
That is
somewhat similar to a photograph.
Even though it only captures a single moment,
you end up imagining
the story before and after it.
Perhaps people
do not look at the form,
but look at the time.
A small cake.
A small shop.
A small world.
But in it,
a margin for imagination,
a little larger than reality, was left behind.
