What are you talking about? Paradigm Shift (Part 134) What was the 1-billion-year button? (ep3, end)
Life is made of editing🔘
Up to this point,
"time" and "memory" have been discussed.
Even if you live for a billion years,
if your memories disappear,
can you really say that life existed?
That was the question.
But,
there is one more thing,
that bothers me🤔💭
We do not,
remember our lives,
exactly as they were.
Whether recalling a trip,
remembering a sports day,
or talking about what happened yesterday,
no one tells the whole story.
Things that made us happy.
Things that made us frustrated.
Things that made us laugh.
We unconsciously select,
only the moments that moved our hearts,
and tell them as a single story.
──In other words,
people,
live while editing their lives.
Movies have editing.
Novels have editing.
Music has editing.
And,
life has editing too.
If,
you pressed the 1-billion-year button,
and all those memories vanished.
If, within those billion years,
just one single,
unforgettable scene remained.
Perhaps that one moment,
could be called a life.
──Come to think of it,
the reason I write an essay every day,
is the same thing.
Today,
has 24 hours.
However,
what becomes writing
is only a few minutes.
Choosing those few minutes,
choosing the words,
choosing the white space,
and leaving it behind as a single work.
Writing is not
about recording events.
It is about editing life.
Therefore,
creation is not about making a new story,
but perhaps an act of giving meaning
to one's own life once again.
The 1-billion-year button
was not a story about 1 million yen.
It was not a story about time,
nor was it a story about memory.
What is it that people
leave behind as their life?
It was a button
that presses that question.
...what kind of editing is that?🔘📖
Afterword✍️
With this,
the story of the "1-billion-year button" ends.
...or so I thought.
Next week,
I will be rewriting the blueprint🤣
If,
I were to design a 1-billion-year button.
...what kind of blueprint is that?🔘
